- Michigan fan7 contributionsIt's okay but not greatI would go for hiking but think twice about taking your pups. Anywhere there is water was packed with burrs. People like to drive their cars right by the water and hang out. Kinda cool but don't expect sandy shoreline. It's very rocky and as I mentioned, tons of burrs.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 18, 2024

We were visiting from Fl and he has a home at The Grand and he took his boat out and what a beautiful lake. We enjoyed the boat ride and the beautiful scenery and a clear lake.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 5, 2024

We have RV camped there many times or just go for a day trip with friends to see the marina with one of the largest wateeslides in the USA and have lunch or sunset dinners on a boat you can rent or bring yours. We've paddleboarded there, speedboats with friends. Hiking is awesome there and a challenge. Wildlife is busy there, also. Can always here the coyotes nearby at night and when in the lake, on the beaches in the rocks, you'll see many assorted animals. The lake is beautiful. Went hiking along the Wild Burro Trail, mostly easy, nice lake views, saw jumping fish along the shoreline. Along the hillside we watch three wild burros wandering, pretty cool. Also came across a snake about 15 inches from my foot. Back and forth about 4 miler. Spring desert blossoms, few people, Stop at the floating bar restaurant at the marina, fun active place for recooperation time. Less than one hour from Scottsdale lots of boating action and rentals

We went up to Lake Pleasant to have a picnic and to see the wild flowers around the lake area. Great time pleasant weather and although there were a boats on the lake it wasn't badly crowded. Take the back road toward Castle Hot Spings and after it turns to dirt go until you can find a place to stop and park. Hike back into the area using the burro trails. We came across the wild burros and some great spreads of flowers.

We've been taking a hike a week this month and Lake Pleasant is the best one so far. There is an entry fee. There are multiple trails that are challenging or leisurely but most have water views, look out points and varied walk textures. There are signs along the trails to help you decide which way to go and there are benches at key areas.

We really enjoyed our drive around the lake- seeing the water, cactus and wild burros. It's a lovely park with much to see and enjoy. The visitor center (Discovery Center) provides some good information background to the area in general and to the lake in particular. It was a cloudy day, but we were lucky to get bits of sun here and there, and we loved the views. We particularly like seeing the wild burros around the entrance, and we heard there are several hundred burros aroound the park. Our one disappointment was the marina restaurant was closed for 2 weeks for cleaning. Hope we can return when it's open and we have more time to spend around the park.

You get the feeling of being in a construction zone while out on the lake because someone was allowed to put warning buoys all over the place. What at one time was a beautiful rocky outcropping emerging from the water is now surrounded by 4 warning buoys. I’ve never seen anything like it. The water is pretty clear though and the lake is the largest in the area.

For the price of a RV site at $32 a night, water and elec, you would think the campground would have more then one men's toilet seat for 30 camp sites. Most of the campsites 133-158 are totally un level placings RV's in a dangerous position while in use. The county should spend a little money to improve the sites. Also even if you only plan to use personnal non-motorize watercraft 1 or 2 times, you are charged daily regardless.

We rented a 20’ pontoon for an afternoon on the water. We entered at the wrong gate, paid 9$ parking and then realized we needed to be at another gate. With 15 minutes of realizing our error, we had to pay an additional $7 because one gate isn’t working in tandem with the other. The boat we were given was very worn. Torn seats throughout, no strap to pull the stairs up, and it kept having trouble starting after each time we stopped to swim. They had maybe four not rentals this afternoon and I feel like the boat choice could have been better. We told the attendant at return about the difficulty and they said they “would mention it” to whomever….they ask several questions upon the boat rental return including whether or not you want to tip the attendants—but of course it is optional. It certainly makes you feel like a jerk if you don’t tip . With rental for four hours, has in the boat and tip…$400 approx cost.

I read a review that said “time to ban dogs” but in reality I think it should have said “time to ban people.” I was excited to go here bc I am from a state that has lots of lakes, but as soon as I got up close, highly disappointing. This lake is disgusting. Trash everywhere. I think I even saw a rug at one point. I wouldn’t even let my dog swim here. The fact that you pay to go here and the lack of care coming from the state to actually clean the shore is beyond me.

Drove through the lake site during our stay in Scottsdale. We're from New England and spend A LOT of time in our boat so I figured we'd take a ride up to this lake and check it out. The camp site is a series of parking lots with literally hundreds of RV's (small and large). I will say that the view of the lake is nice but when I think of camping, this is not what I imagine. Its just a bunch of parking lots. No trees, no grass etc.

Do you have activity directors at your park? Back in 2002, you had a great couple, I believe they were Gail and Larry something ?
