One of the Original Homes of Ushuaia
Feb 2020
Unfortunately when we were here the home/museum was closed so we only saw it in passing. The home was built by Fortunata Beban in 1913 . According to the stories we heard, the ordered the home as a "kit" from a Swiss catalog company. We really loved the Swiss Architecture of this unique home.

BOTTOM LINE: It is located just outside the the main town but within walking distance. It was donated by the Behan family to the city in 1980 and was later moved to this park-like location. At one time it served as a social hall to the community. Worth a quick photo. Not sure if it is permanently closed, The outside looked like it needed some sprucing up. MY RATING: 7/10

This house was moved from somewhere near the centre of Ushuaia to this current site. It hows the history of the Pluschow family who migrated from Croatia to Ushuaia.

Nice Pit Stop
Nov 2017 • Couples
You cant miss this place because of the architecture and its out in the open as you approach town. Nothing super special but gives you some good information about the past. Its free. You will spend less than an hour here but worth the stop.

Free museum
Dec 2016 • Solo
This museum was home of one of the pioneers of Ushuaia. You can take a look at how ancestors of current residents had lived before.

An interesting museum-like place
Jan 2016
The place is like a museum, with history about the Beban family. There you'll find photos and items gathered from the family descedants.

the house itself was better than the contents
Nov 2015 • Friends
This house is a short walk from the centre of Ushuaia. It is FREE to go in. Inside the porch area is a pictorial history of the Beban family. Go through to the house proper and there were a couple of rooms with an art exhibition (unrelated to the house) then walk further in and there is a tiny cafe. A couple of other rooms had some 'museum' type articles. Upstairs one room has been decorated as a bedroom of the time and articles have been donated by the Beban family. I'm glad it was free - would have been disappointed had I paid money to see this.

Home, converted to small museum ....
Jan 2015 • Friends
If you're walking around Ushuaia, and happen to pass by this museum, stop for about 10 minutes, and read up on the family history of the home. Knowing what I know now, I would not make a special trip, just to see this museum, However, it is nice inside, and has several items depicting what was available many years ago. Museum is "FREE." Hope this helps for your first visit to Ushuaia.
