About
At first sight, many think Bahía Encerrada to be a lake, but it is in fact, as its Spanish name confirms, a "confined bay."

Beautiful scenery
Mar 2020 • Friends
We took the bus tour and this was one of the stops towards the end. You get fantastic views across the bay, our ship was docked there so this made for a good photograph. The air here is so fresh, it makes you appreciate being outside and in an area where the pollution levels are fairly low. Lovely scenery all around.

Great landscape and birding
Mar 2018 • Friends
I spent about an hour at the Bahia, birding the coast and the water. It was a clear, sunny day and the beautiful location became even more captivating. And I saw lots of birds, too!

Went for a birding walk around this bay and into the nature preserve and were quite impressed at the number of shore and seabirds we spotted! Great resource right on the edge of the city

We came to Usuhaia Bay and "the post office at the end of the world." Sent a card home to us and received it a few weeks later. Beautiful stamps!

Endless Views
Feb 2015 • Family
Mother Nature never disappoints in this partof the world. I love everything about Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia and what Argentina has to offer to the adventurists. Lots of picture taking.Weather is cold, but wearing layers and preparing will make it enjoyable and worth every effort to get there.

Great views
Jan 2015 • Couples
There isn't anything outstanding about the bay itself, but you can behold spectacular views there at sunrise and sunset. I found it to be a good place to take pictures in Ushuaia. Also, it is nice to take a walk around the bay.

Great Morning Out
Feb 2014 • Couples
Just came from the dock and had to write a review.
We were looking to go with another operator but they only had the giant boats available and they took us to this company's dockside shack. The tour was 50 Pesos dearer than the larger boats and worth every Peso!

The boat has a spacious inside cabin and above that a viewing platform on the roof and a spacious area at the bow of the boat.

The guides were excellent, gave us a bit of a nautical run down of the area and of the wildlife we will see. Some of the Spanish speaking crew would spot a bird or penguin in the water, tap you on the shoulder and show us a book with a picture of the species. Many times the captain would stop the boat and drift up close to the birds or penguins in the water. As you get to Sea lion island we would be metres away from the animals and birds. All of the big boats just slowly motored past. We were the only boat that stopped and stayed for a bit.

We dock on another island and do a 20min walk up to the small summit with a good view. The guides break you up into English and Spanish speaking groups and give you a commentary on the plants and animals on the island.

During the trip there is coffee and biscuits on offer and a home made liqueur as you get back to Ushuaia.

Probably best to do the morning tour to get calmer seas.

Well worth the trip.

Dec 2013 • Family
this is a pretty bay and the bus from ushuaia stops here near the post office. the trail for senda costera begins here. there are lovely photo ops here with the end-of the-world post office. we got our stamps from the tourist info office in ushuaia for free. there were few people waiting for the postoffice to open to get their stamps for a small fee

Patagonia Adventure Explorer (Beagle Channel Tour)
Nov 2013 • Couples
I did some online research before we went to Ushuaia and found the tour offered by Patagonia Adventur Explorer the nicest, so I made a reservation via email. The instantly confirmed and everything went smoothly.
The tour was very nice! The boat was small enough to get close to the islands and we also made a walk on one of them.
Our bilingual tour guide (English/Spanish) was very nice and she explained a lot about flora, fauna and the natives. We really learned a lot.
Although it was November (spring) it was very cold, mostly because of the strong wind, but we were equipped well. During the trip they serve hot drinks and cookies and some coffee liquor, a very nice gesture to warm everybody up.
We definitely recommend this tour!

Smelly, but nice view from the opposite side
Dec 2012 • Friends
The bay itself is not too clean, but it makes for a nice stroll and you can sit on the grass on the hills on the opposite side and take a look at the city while sipping a mate :)
