A very interesting town to stroll around in with lots of souvenir shops selling quality goods. Plenty of bars and coffee shops that make absolutely great coffee. Interesting port here also as many expedition and cruise ships leave here for Antarctica.

Arrived in Ushuaia at noon and nothing planned for the day. After had lunch, we strolled around the city centre area and found a city tour by double decker. The bus itself is very old but it does its job. It costs 400.00 Argentine Pesos per person for 1 hour tour around the local sights. These include the Old Prison site, the Main Street of Town, the old airport and some residential areas. The bus stopped at the old airport for photo shot and we had an amazing view of the Ushuaia town and splendid view of Andes mountains. Spanish & English commentaries were provided in the bus. The scenery was spectacular especially with snow covering the mountains. It is an excellence idea to take the double decker bus tour if you want to see the city in short period of time.

We arrived on a cruiseship and walked the short distance to the bus location. Even though we arrived 30 minutes before the tour was to begin all the seats on the upper level were taken. The bus is an interesting vehicle itself. It would be interesting to know more about its history. Even though we had visited Ushuaia four years ago we wanted to know more about the city. The tour took us all around town - to different neighborhoods, the airport (great views), and through the downtown streets - accompanied by a pre-recorded narration. A very fun tour!

It's only $10, and it's fun. The old (once red now blue) bus wheezes and chugs its way round the town. The main attraction though are those stark jagged awesome mountains that hold the town like a protectively cupped palmed hands. There's fading glory in the old military bases .. a lively town center.. a couple of airports.. museums and of course the little (convict built) train and national park up the road. Once a penal colony, now the gateway to Antarctic travel and tourism. The little blue bus fits in nicely.

We utilized Ushuaia City tour, (the double decker bus), when our cruise ship ported for the day in Ushuaia. It was a reasonable way to see the sights of the city over a couple of hours prior to going off on our own for the balance of the day. The stop at the old international airport, (now just a local airfield), was really cool as you were able to not only see the airfield, but across the bay to the town and our cruise ship. I recommend this tour for folks wanting to see the city within a limited time window.
