This is a great outing from Ushuaia. We got a taxi from our city centre hotel and it was 80-90ARP. The chair lift was not working. We walked to the point just above the top of the chair lift. We didn't carry on further as we had a three year old with us and the weather got a bit wild! The views were great. When we got back down to the point where the taxi dropped us off we went in to the cafe (Refugio) to warm up and had amazing dulce de leche pasta frola with our coffee! The lady in the cafe called us a taxi to get back to town.

Like many others, we took a taxi to the Casa de Te and hiked up from there to the glacier. The views back to the town and harbor are lovely. It would have been nice to take the chair lift up, but it wan't running. The trail is not difficult, so we did get a bit of exercise.

Disclaimer: we were at Perito Merino Glacier two days ago in El Calafate; it's amazeballs.

Take a taxi or drive up the hill to Casa de Té, park, and start walking! It takes about 45min-1hr to get to the viewing point for the Glacier; all incline but the path is flat with some bigger rocks here and there, so watch your footing.

Once you get to the viewing point, keep going! It's only another 45min until you summit and are within feet of the bottom of the "Glacier" (again, we were at Perito Merino a couple days ago). You will see the global warming wasn't too friendly to this Glacier, BUT you get some great photos there and of the Beagle Channel right behind you. Good luck and bring some water, since we didn't bring any...oops.

The drive up here is an experience in itself. At the top there is an overpriced tea shop and a steep, wide track that you hike up - the views are amazing, but there is not a lot here to fill your time.

I climbed the martial glaciar to the top, it took me 2 hs, you need special foot and equipment for the ice. It`s a easy way up, need to be fit and take it easy, from the top you can see the amazing view of the channel and the entire city, on the other side, the mountains... the sensation up there is amazing.

Weather is always unpredictable in the mountains. Be prepared for all types of weather, but know that Glacier springs are usually very wet. The recent warm temperatures will cause increased snow melt and higher water conditions in streams and rivers.

The glacier is there, further back in the mountain. If you are a hardcore hiker you can do that but we were not prepared for that type of trek. Still should absolutely go as the views of Ushuaia and the Bay are absolutely stunning. Good for any activity level, you could walk from the center of town or take a taxi. Highly recommend if you are going to be in Ushuaia.

Great views over the beagle channel and of ushuaia but you will be disappointed if you expect a typical glacial foramtion as the glacier is high up on the mountain but still worth the trek

Not a tricky walk, not greatly signposted, had a bit of a detour on the way back but didn't make much difference time wise. Most people could do this walk, don't have to be particularly fit or a walker.
Nice views over Ushuaia and the beagle channel.
No glacier however- you'd be disappointed if you thought that was what you were getting. Passes an afternoon.

We took a taxi for $400 to the start of the trek, it took about 20 minutes. At the bottom of the mountain there is a tea house and a restaurant/bar. The walk up to the trail took about 40 minutes. There are two routes marks Difficult and medium. As we walked the route in the winter both routes were covered in snow so we’re very difficult to see. Would highly recommend this for a leisurely morning/early afternoon walk. The views are spectacular.
