We took the mini-trekking trip with Hielo y Aventura in November 2019. They picked us up at our hotel and we were provided with some relevant historical and geographical information by the guide as we drove. We drove through the National Park to the tiered platforms overlooking the glacier. After a period of time to eat and use the washrooms, we took a boat to the glacier and were given crampons and helmets to trek on the ice. They also gave us a small drink and chocolate when we were done, before taking the boat back to the mainland and bussing us back to our hotel. Overall, a great way to explore Perito Moreno Glacier!

Hielo y Aventura offered extremely warm and professional hospitality during the booking process and has always earned top marks for the quality of its tours and other services. But it deserves special praise for the extraordinary way that it and its team have handled the COVID-19 crisis, staying in close and prompt contact with those who had bookings and processing refunds quickly and efficiently -- and still with its usual warmth and intelligence and grace -- during what must be almost impossibly challenging times for it and for for entire hospitality industry. I cannot possibly praise this group of professionals highly enough, and look forward to joining them again.

Had an excellent day viewing the Perito Moreno glacier from the bridges/platforms to then actually walking on the glacier with the kids. Definitely a unique experience worth doing.

I traveled to Perito Moreno in Feb 2020 and thought the big ice trek was worth every penny. You get fantastic views of the glacier in the morning from the look outs, a boat view in the afternoon, and a nice long hike with crampons and all in the afternoon. By doing the big trek you get to see the many different forms of the glacier and explore more parts of the 400-600 year old ice! Don't forget to bring your rainjacket AND rainpaints like I did - even with being soaked I had a great time and thought our guides were extremely knowledgeable about the glaciology, ice trekking, and were friendly overall!

We did 10 days in Argentina and this was our family's favorite adventure throughout Patagonia. Highly recommend doing the mini-trekking excursion (book several weeks out or more during peak season as it's very popular). Also, recommend doing the earliest excursion if possible as it takes an entire day from El Calafate. We did the 8:45am tour and were the first people on the glacier which was cool. The guide (Diego) was amazing - really funny and informative. We were lucky and had 75 degree and sunny weather, very rare! The glaciers were glowing in the sun which made it even more beautiful. If you are going to visit the glaciers, it is definitely way more worth it do the trek vs. just the walkways. Recommend bringing your packed lunches on the boat to eat after the glacier before the boat trip back. We tried doing the walkways afterwards, but didn't get back until closer to 2:30 or 3pm and were too tired to take the shuttle all the way to the top walkways and the line to get on the shuttle was way too long, so we just visited the lower walkways and went home. Got back to El Calafate by about 5pm.
