Arrayanes Forest is located on the Quetrihué Peninsula and is named after the rare Arrayán trees that grow along the northern shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake.

Together with approximately 200 people you arrive by boat. With the crowd you go for a 25 minutes walk in a mythical forest. All people walk anti-clockwise. At the end of the walk is a simple cafeteria. We went for a coffee. What a mistake! The coffee was poor and seriously overpriced.

The forest in the cinnamon-colored trees was well worth the walk.

We made this excursion as we were told that "el bosque de los Arrayanes" was very nice and unique. And it was right !
After a nice way by boat we took our way back walking, and that was quite an incredible walk, many different lanscape and views and such quietness, it was just incredible.
When you arrive at the boat stop, make sure to take a coffee and a part of cake at the little chalet that is in the midele of the trees, so romantic and and nice ! By the way, thèses trees were si nice that Disney choose to draw them in the Bambi story.
Just look at my pictures if you want to see the different types of landscapes you can see along the path.
Know that this path is not suited for all, as it is quite long (12 km) and has some pathes that rise quite hardly.

Once you see the trees you will know where Disney got his inspiration for scenery in Bambi. The trees are one of a kind.

The forest was somewhat destroyed by by the Chilian volcano that erupted a few years back, but the forest is regrowing. Still woorth a sight seeing tour, which includes a beautiful boat ride.

When you get of the boat you have 60 minutes before you have to re-board. I thought this would not be enough time but the "walk" through the forest is so short that you finish it in 20 minutes . If you are active I would recommend renting a bike or hiking to get to the forest rather than the boat.

You need to walk 10 minutes down the trail in the nahuel huapi park to reach the arrayans. It's nice but not a big deal it's not well maintained either but good to see if you have free time.

For 12km of forest this is a highly varied walk with some spectacular views over the lake and islands. You need 3 hours for the hike but would strongly recommend giving another 2 hours to enjoy the look-outs (off the main path, probably another 2km in total), spend some time by the lagoon and have a proper look around the Arrayanes forest. We began the walk from the mainland and caught the boat back from the tip - we appeared to be in the minority but this was good because we seemed to have the place to ourselves. Great day.

we did this as an alternative to the whole day boat trip to the Arrayanes forest. It is a pleasant walk.

This is an amazing park and the chance to see the worlds largest collection (biggest and oldest) of the Arrayanes trees (Reportedly the trees which Walt Disney modeled the forest in Bambi after, following a visit to this area) Self guided tour on a long boardwalk, tree varieties are well marked. There are bathrooms and a snack shop as well. You can get there by boat from Villa de Angostura or a moderately long hike. Total visit time 45 min to 1 hour. Well worth it...awe inspiring!

It's a very short circuit but a chilled place to walk around with good photo opportunities. The actual house gets very busy so tough to get a good picture. An easier trek after we did the Isla Victoria. The forrest can be done in 20 minutes.
