I highly enjoyed my round at the Llao Llao golf course. Obviously the first thing to mention is that the views and scenery are absolutely breathtaking - it's worth playing for this alone.
As for the course, it is relatively short (6,000 yards, par 70 from the back tees) but the wind, undulation and elevation changes made it challenging enough to be interesting (I play off a handicap of 1). The course was in good condition too. With the blue rate I payed about £95 / $120 for one green fee and a buggy which I feel is a fair price.

With views to die for, this was the most gorgeous and well cared for golf course I've seen. The club rentals were also fabulous, the terrain was varied and people were wonderful. Be warned, the wind can be fierce!

Truly unique course with gorgeous views. It was very windy the day we were there so the 50 degree temp felt much worse but so worth it! Such fun use of the terrain and so open that you feel the grandeur of nature on every hole. If you are struggling with cold wind to get to the green, once you are there the greens are relatively easy and break-free. Definitely recommend this course, I expect all level of golfer would enjoy this course.

A very well prepared golf course, fantastic views, only a small number of players at this time of the year combined with a lot of sunshine and a little bit of wind. Take a buggy if you don’t like walking on hills. Very friendly staff and don’t miss hoyo 19 for a glass of fresh crispy Medoza Chardonnay. Thank you Llao Llao golf course team!

I stayed at the Llao Llao Resort for four days and figured this would be a unique opportunity to play golf in the Argentine Patagonia. The course is a short track compared to U.S. courses (5,800 +/- yards) but is well kept and there are a few holes that were challenging for me (16 handicap). The views were amazing and made the outing worth it. The clubhouse was well stocked with various brands of balls, gloves, etc., and rents Taylormade "Z" clubs and electric carts as well. I played in mid September which is the end of the winter in Argentina and the temperature was a crisp and pleasant 53 degrees Fahrenheit. I highly recommend it.

Bariloche skies have been full of volcanic ash from the eruption of Volcano Calbuco but when the ash cleared, I decided to take a short day tour of Llao Llao and Puerto Pañuelo.
About a 45 minute drive from Bariloche, Llao Llao is best known for the posh hotel and golf resort of the same name on a hill between two incredible lakes, Moreno and Nahuel Huapi.
Puerto Pañuelo is on Nahuel Huapi Lake near Llao Llao. It's a departure point for crossing the lakes between Argentinian and Chilean Patagonia. The area is gorgeous and deserves to go on the list of the best places in the world to escape. Really, no one could ever find you there!
Llao Llao has an interesting history. The hotel was built in 1939 and constructed almost entirely of wood. It was destroyed by fire the same year. A year later it was rebuilt out of reinforced concrete and stone. In 1976, it closed due to a lack of maintenance funds. For years vandals robbed the abandoned hotel and it suffered from overall neglect.
In 1993 Llao Llao reopened after a complete renovation by its new owner, CEI Citicorp Holdings SA. Citicorp acquired the hotel as compensation for Argentinian government bonds it held.
Argentina's biggest real estate developer, IRSA Inversiones y Representaciones SA, acquired the hotel in 1997 for $13.3 million. Later they sold 50% to the Sutton Group. In 1999 the hotel became a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. It has won many prizes including the Best Hotel and Resort in the Argentine Hinterland.
Hiking around Llao Llao is a day well spent. It's one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in South America. You can also stop for lunch or dinner at the hotel or other restaurants in the vicinity. If you don't have a rental car, Llao Llao is on the Bariloche bus route.

Vistas galore over these beautiful fairways. It is difficult to concentrate on your golf shot when there is such wonderful views in the distance. The pro shop attended by Sebastion and Fernando had our Taylor made rental clubs organised for the 4 of us when we arrived at 9am . Hoping that 3 balls each was enough , we teed off on the 1st , and set off down the course , stopping to take so many photos that we were glad to have the course to ourselves on a Monday morning. For Australians , this was magic.
After 11 holes we stopped in at the 19th for a tasty lunch , then set off again to complete the final 7.
The 17th is up a steep hill but it is the 18th that has left the best til last. A 160 - 180m water carry is a great way to complete one of the best holiday days. A definite must for any golfer, irrespective of your handicap.

This course definitively offers you the views you expect in this environment; beautiful. The course is not long and is a par 70 only but is good fun to play since the maintenance is good as well as the greens. Not all top quality but more than 'good'.
The old holes are more interesting than the new ones but since they changed the routing you have a bit of both on the front nine and back nine. The clubhouse is cosy, with friendly service and a nice food cart. All together the menu of a good day; and that was it. We loved plying here.

This has to be one of the most beautiful courses in the world. If over 50 years old ask for a golf cart. It is at least a 10k walk !

Llao Llao is a fantastic place. The location is everything you wanted it to be. Lake Moreno on one side, Lake Nahuel Huapi on the other, surrounded by the mountains and the Andes. We stayed in the old wing, it was older but nice. (I did hear the newly renovated wing of the hotel is nicer) - but it's not about the room. The service and attention you get is 5-star (either room), but the location, views and sense of serenity is priceless. You are a part of this "zen world" with great hiking trails in the Municipal Park within walking distance of the hotel to view native Arrayan trees, local flora, fauna, and wildlife. You also have the balmy indoor pool, golf and lots of offered indoor/outdoor activities, eating and drinking options. We did not stay inside the room very long - we were Zenning Out!

Can anyone give an estimate as to how long it takes to play a round of 18 holes on this course? Does it tend to play fast or slow (using 4 hr 14 min as an average round).
