Horrible for Renting Skis. Avoid at all costs!
Jul 2017 • Family
As an experienced traveler, I rarely have written a negative review. Look at my record of leaving hundreds and hundreds of reviews. Almost always positive.
Please read my objective review below so you can avoid renting skis from this company.

I rented a house and the company set up for us to get a private ski instructor for our two young kids. Also to rent skis. We requested a location to be right at the base of the mountain. This location is not right where the gondolas are. It's down by the parking lot so it's very important for people renting to understand if you rent from this company you have to carry your skis down from the parking lot area and up to the gondola area. It's not too convenient compared to renting at a location right at the base of the ski resort.

We could have gotten over the location. But it was a disaster from the moment we got up to the mountain. Our kids have been skiing now 3 years in a row and have taken ski lessons before including from private instructors. Right away, one of our son's skis can't falling off. The ski was defective and the boot kept coming out of the binding. The guy that gave us the skis was nice and made sure it was ok when we were in the store but apparently the ski was broken.

We only had two hours of a private lesson so you can imagine our disappointment when he couldn't even use the ski. Also, for some reason the instructor brought the kids way up top high on one of the gondolas in an area where it wasn't appropriate for a 7 year old. She burned a lot of time getting up (and down). My son couldn't do anything and she called the store and told them she was coming back down and for someone to bring another set of skis.

She brought them down to a beginning area and we were shocked that the skis wouldn't even move at all in the snow. Our instructor Fernanda (who was friendly) tried saying it was just the snow! Even though everywhere around us was moving through the snow ok. I explained to her that the problem is the bottom of the skis. They weren't waxed at all probably in some time. She said someone else had the same exact problem in her class last week. So this wasn't an isolated incident.

By this time we were exhausted at all the problems. Imagine the frustration of our kids that they couldn't even ski. This was after spending $315 US dollars on lift tickets as well. Fernanda suggested that we return to the store and get different skis. But by this time and all the inconvenience of having to walk back down to the store. We just told her that we just wanted a refund for the ski rentals. She totally agreed with us that this shouldn't be happening.

When we got back to the store, she explained to the girl behind the desk about the problems with the skis. My wife and I are both totally fluent in Spanish and we lived in Argentina for 8 years before. I told them that I'd be happy to pay for the ski instructor (even though she didn't do anything). But I told them that they couldn't expect us to pay for the ski rental as the skis wouldn't work! The girl refused and said there wasn't anything they could do to refund for the rental.

Rather than argue with the girl which would have been hopeless I just told my wife that we would dispute it with the credit card company and leave.

Look at all my reviews. I'm a very fair and objective guy. I'd totally avoid this company for renting skis or snowboards. Their gear doesn't work. I've gone skiing all over the world and under all kinds of conditions but never had a pair of skis that you couldn't ski on at all on snow. All of our skis literally would have snow caked on them and wouldn't be able to move. It was like being stuck in glue.

Avoid this company as it's not ethical.

Recommended this joint by our hostel and it was great. Good price and ok gear. We are both experienced boarders who had no gear with us and we're happy with what we got for the price. Sure, don't expect the latest fashion or very waterproof for the clothing a but the boots are DC and really new and comfy. Boards were in good knick with good wax and sharp edges. The guy who helped us was onto it and did the degrees of our bindings as requested. Good times at epic!

A whole new view of Bariloche!
Nov 2014 • Friends
Richard took my nephew and me out for an afternoon of kayaking and it was AWESOME! Richard speaks and writes English beautifully which made setting up the trip really easy. We communicated all through email - he was really timely and clear in his replies. He also came to pick us up without any additional charge - incredibly useful because we didn't rent a car.

He told us great stories of his experience in Bariloche and the states - he is very funny.

We picked this adventure because it offered a view of the national park that we couldn't get any other way. We had done a lot of hiking and driven through the park as well (with friends) but to see the view from the water was spectacular. You're surrounded by mountains and it's all very peaceful.

We didn't get wet at all - the skirt keeps the bottom half of you dry. I wore water-friendly sandals and Richard had water shoes for my nephew to borrow. I wore yoga pants and a long sleeve running shirt which worked great. You could easily do it in jeans as well.

Richard made us a delicious snack of empanadas and fruit halfway through. We also had mate which I hadn't had yet on my visit. Nice!

In case you're wondering, the time on the water wasn't a lot of exercise (though I did have my college-age nephew paddling behind me). Also, I do remember thinking the price was high, but when I realized it included lunch and door to door service from my hotel, the price was very reasonable. Also, Richard has really nice boats and equipment which is worth it.

This trip was very memorable and really fun. I left the adventure feeling like I had a new friend in Aregentina. I would highly recommend it.

Great times on Moreno lake

We were in bariloche during rainy season but still wanted to go kayaking. Richard was the only one willing to take us of all the tour companies in town, and it was really fun! He is easy going and considerate; everything was taken care of. We would recommend going kayaking with this company.

Beautiful and fun half day trip
Apr 2014
We did a half day trip starting at 2pm. Richard picked us up from our hotel and drove us to Lago Gutierrez - they use three different lakes depending on the conditions on the day. We were lucky - it was a sunny afternoon and the lake was perfectly still.
Neither of us are regular kayakers so I think a half day was good. Richard gave us a safety briefing and all his equipment really is excellent quality. The provided splash skirt and jacket meant we didn't get wet at all. The kayak was stable and easy to use and he tailored the afternoon to our pace and stamina. We had a break on the side of the lake for matte, tea and croissants and a chat. The lake was peaceful and the scenery spectacular. Richard also took lots of photos of us kayaking using my camera which was much appreciated. We had a fantastic time and it really was evident how much he enjoys taking people out on the lakes. Highly recommended.

Great Fun
Feb 2014 • Couples
This was one of the highlights of our stay in Bariloche and great value for money. We spent 4 hours kayaking around the lake, with a stop for a picnic on one of the beach areas. Richard is an excellent instructor and guide, takes safety seriously and has first class kayaks and all necessary equipment. The lake was beautiful and our group of 3 kayaks had it all to ourselves - perfect!. Booking online is easy, there is a choice of trips and Richard replied promptly to my questions beforehand. You don't have to have done any kayaking before and can go at your own pace. However, it is quite a good work out for the upper arms if you are not used to it. Your feet don't get wet because of the neoprene aprons that fasten around the kayak opening, but if you want to take spare shoes and clothes, rucksacks can be stored in a trailer whilst on the lake. The entrance gate is marked with a small sign, but not too difficult to find, being situated on the bridge between the two lakes. I can highly recommend this activity. It is suitable for people of all ages and fitness.

An Awesome Time
Mar 2014 • Friends
They picked us up straight from our hostel (Hostel 41) promptly at 4pm. The kayak and equipment were all in great shape. We were out on the water for several hours, with a little tea break in the middle. We stopped on a beautiful beach and our guides brought out medialunas, coffee and tea. The sunset over the lake was gorgeous, our guides brought us to the perfect spot. Our guides were actually one of the best parts of the trip. They were hilarious and super knowledgeable, they made the trip really enjoyable.

I would highly recommend this company. Thanks guys!

Amazing sunset tour - even more amazing service
Richard runs a very professional tour, and we really appreciated his attention to details. My friend and I arrived late due to flight delays (common in Argentina), and Richard was flexible to pushing our sunset kayak tour back until we were ready. It's about a half hour drive from the city center, and they provide all the necessary safety equipment and teach you how to kayak properly.

He ran the tour even though there were only two of us, and he brought an assistant (and his friend) - so it was like having a private tour with 3 guides! When it became clear that we weren't so great at paddling, they mixed the boats up so that we each had one of them in the back of the tandem kayaks (and then we went much faster).

Richard also took my camera and took lots of photos for us, which was much appreciated. We stopped halfway for some snacks (croissants and tea or coffee), and then paddled back against an amazing sunset.

We went in March so it was getting pretty chilly (ie no swimming option unless you're really brave), but I can only imagine that it'd be really refreshing on a hot day. The lake is beautiful, and we were the only ones on it so we really got to experience nature.

You wear this neoprene thing that looks like a skirt, and it stretches over the kayak seat so that you don't get wet from the waist down, and they also give a wind jacket that keeps your upper body dry.

My friend accidentally left her sunglasses in the jacket pocket, and they went out of their way to make sure she got them back before we left Bariloche. If I could give more than 5 stars for service, I definitely would!

The kayak trip was easy and wonderful. My friend and I were picked up right on time at our hostel, driven directly to the lake, provided with all the safety equipment, and had a guide all to ourselves. The lake was empty and we kayaked calmly just the three of us. On one of the shores we stopped for tea, mate, and snacks as we enjoyed the setting sun. We got back leisurely and warmed up just as the sky got dark, learning all about the lake and the history of the area at the same time. Amazing experience, best thing we did in bariloche!
