The hiking trails to the scenic overlooks up the mountain was great. it was challenging enough that you felt like you got some exercise, but not too difficult that the whole family (and plenty of dogs) couldn't handle it. When you got to the the scenic overlooks, they were magnificent and you really felt like you were rewarded for making the trip. Make sure that you are dropped off at the entrance to the park, not at the beginning, or you will take the first 2 kilometer walk in an area that is along a dusty road and really is a waste of time.

We biked from Bariloche through the back trails. Nice ride. Then we went kayaking. Very beautiful territory.

The lake is situated a little further away from all the touristy action and therefore it is a lot more quieter. I chose to do horsebackriding near the lake and partly through it, which I found as a very nice way of exploring the surrounding landscape and it was also fun of course and made a really nice picture :)

The lake was a beautiful place to go on what was a bright morning followed by awful, rainy afternoon. Take the 50 bus from town to the end and get off at the lake where most people get off. Walk two kilometres along the lake and you can then go and see the waterfalls and also climb the hill to the mirador (if it's wet then the climb would be treacherous). The views are great and the area is so serene.

Very calm and beautiful kayaking with Pura Vida outfitters who met us on the shore with the best equipment and had a tea stop organized during our 2-hour outing. Lovely views and serene setting.

The best 40 pesos I have spent in a long time. This tiny museum is crammed with bones, fossils, stuffed birds, dinosaur relics. The owner is responsible for creating the collection and had I been a paleontologist, I would have spent hours talking to him on his favourite subject! This is way better than the Bariloche Museo de Paleontology in the city. Just a few meters up the road from Lago Gutierrez. A bus ride from the city takes less than half an hour. Well worth the time.

All tours to "Cerro Tronador" drive along "Lago Gutiérrez", with its blue waters and pine covered forests. It was named by famous Argentinian naturalist and explorer Francisco Moreno (mostly known as "Perito Moreno") after his academic mentor Juan Maria Gutiérrez. Located at only 12 km from San Carlos de Bariloche, "Lago Gutiérrez" is popular for biking, kayaking, picnicking and sunbathing. Enjoy!

Not something very special but tranquile and romantic. Beautiful views to the lake and the mountains, easy hike along the lake, lovely waterfall. We enjoyed a lot.

Started from catedral, got down on el balcón de gutierres, then to the waterfalls and took a bus 50 back to Bariloche directly from the lake. Easy 14km relaxing hike.

If you are amazed by Nahuel Huapi Lake and the fabulous mountain views surrounding, then Lago Gutierrez will not amaze you at all. As a matter of fact, it disapointed me quite a bit. It is a small place all around, the vies are normal with a small lake and small mountains and I had big difficulties finding a rest room!
A word of advise: if you skip it, no one will kill you back home for having missed it!
