Amazing experience with Ernesto!
Dec 2019 • Solo
Went paragliding with Ernesto. Such an amazing experience to fly above the mountains and lakes - a mixture of adrenaline and serenity with amazing views for miles!!

Was nervous at first (despite having previously done a few sky dives and paragliding), but Erenesto put me at ease and I felt completely in safe hands the entire time.

Really enjoyed the ascents as well as some of the turns. Most of all enjoyed the relaxed feeling for flying above the condors looking at at amazing lake and mountain views for 35 minutes.

Thank you for your opinion Carl. Fulfilling the passengers dream of no engine flying in so wonderful place, is the main motivation to do paragliding tandem flights during 25 years.

Hola my name is lusi and am visiting from Brazil 🇧🇷 for business and some pleasure I noticed people flying paragliding so I googled them, and contacted one company, I end up taking to the owner very pleasant guy and willing to help, but he explain me that right now his company don’t fly because of issues with the local pilots. So he give me the number of this company so I tried calling them for three days but no response. I was so disappointed that I could fly.

Almost end up badly
Dec 2018 • Couples
So I wanted to try paragliding for first time and I find a nice spot here in Bariloche to do that. I was trying to close with one company.
but they told me that they don’t fly right now because of an issue with the local pilots.
but I was too excited to fly, so I find another local company that was more expensive,
And I made an appointment with them On my flight day when we try to exit the mountain we hit the ground very strong and almost crashed but thank God nothing happened to me Except some bruises and minor scratches

Amazing experience
May 2017 • Couples
This was an outstanding experience and the highlight of our time in Bariloche.

I contacted Ernesto via Facebook Messenger (where we chatted in Spanish), and he was very prompt with his replies. We tentatively scheduled a date several days out; Ernesto was very candid that if the winds weren't right, we would not be flying. The morning of our date, he called our hotel to confirm. Due to the day's forecast, he moved our flights up one hour to take advantage of more favorable winds. Once Ernesto realized we are English speakers, he switched languages to facilitate communication (his English is better than our Spanish).

For the flight itself, Ernesto picked us up at our hotel. We drove from there to our landing spot, where a driver then took him and me on to the takeoff spot while my husband waited at the landing (there is a cafe across the street with great coffee and free WiFi). We drove up the mountain to Cerro Otto (lovely views, I was getting more nervous with each switchback) where Ernesto and I completed the climb to the takeoff spot on foot. Once we arrived, Ernesto coached me in how takeoff works and prepared all of the equipment.

Ernesto was super thorough with his preparations, which reassured me. He called the airport to warn them we were flying, and sent my husband a WhatsApp to let him know when to start watching for us.

Taking off was harder than I expected! But Ernesto coached me and pushed me through the experience. Once we were in flight, it was totally peaceful and beautiful. Although you are incredibly high, you don't feel like you're getting whipped around. The flight is pretty gentle. We were in the air maybe 15 minutes, during which time Ernesto whipped out a selfie stick for some photos and video. He offered to let me "drive" the parachute, which I declined, so I got control of the selfie stick for a bit instead.

At landing, Ernesto has you shove out of the seat into a standing position and run so that you hit the ground moving. I did this extremely poorly and face-planted on the grass, with Ernesto landing on top of me. Fortunately I wasn't hurt beyond bruising my knee and my pride.

After my experience was done, Ernesto repeated the whole process with my husband. We helped him re-package the parachute and all that, then they left and I went for my coffee break. It was cool to see them come in for their flight from my spot on the ground. And I felt justified that I wasn't the only family member who botched the landing.

Once we were totally done, Ernesto drove us back to the hotel. We paid him in cash (in pesos that came out to about $120 each USD), and an additional 250 pesos for him to put our photos and videos on a CD-ROM for us. He dropped the CD-ROM off later that afternoon and we're glad to have the photos. By the way, 250 pesos at the time of our visit was something like $15 USD, which seemed very reasonable compared to buying photos for most excursions.

In total, this experience took about 4 hours from pick up to drop off for the two of us to fly.

This was a really fun experience, with unbelievably beautiful views and very good service from Ernesto. I highly recommend it.

Flight of the condors!!
Jan 2016 • Friends
Ernesto is extremely knowledgable about the wind and safety of paragliding. The actual trip was beautiful, but what made it unbelievable to me is that we actually were flying with condors. It had been one of my goals to see condors during my trip and to have them flying around me was mind blowing!!!! The pictures don't do it justice because my GoPro makes them look much further then they actually were. Ernesto was very knowledgable about the native bird species and pointed out several different types.

The downside is the nature of the activity...it is very weather dependent and therefore hard to plan around. Also, he is a single man operation so my sister and I had to take turns (about an hour wait to get to the bottom of the mountain, pack the chute, and drive back to the top). I don't feel like we were well prepared, it was very cold at the top of the mountain where I waited for over an hour, in shorts. Partially my fault, but could have been avoided by a quick checklist.

There was a chance that the wind would change and we would only be able to get one flight in, so in order to get both of us in I felt like he rushed my sisters flight. I, on the other hand, had a really wonderful long flight.

I would recommend it, but be aware of the limitations. Also, he currently only has Facebook as a way of contacting him which can be troublesome at times.

Thank you Robin for your opinion. Facebook Parapente en Bariloche is one of our main contact ways. We can also be contacted to parapente@bariloche.com.ar , or by phone/ WhatsApp to : +5492944413037 I would also add for our future customers that many days we can be two pilots flying at the same time, and, when it's necessary to wait , passengers can decide to do that in the landing area( there is a bar there) or in the take off area (there are different take off points, depending on wind direction and speed, and in some of them there are no facilities close.

The best way to view Bariloche! (Ernesto's e-mail address included)
May 2015 • Solo
I did Parapente with Ernesto, and it was truly a fantastic experience. Everyone in Bariloche seems to know Ernesto, and everybody knows him as the detail-oriented, saftey-first guy that he is. He's perfect at his job. After meeting him at the top of Cerro Otto, there were other people in front of us doing Parapente. You could tell they all had respect for Ernesto, it seemed to me that he was the "Godfather" of Parapente in Bariloche.

The flight itself was incredible. Mine lasted about 10-15 minutes, and Ernest brings a camera to get great shots and video for you. He lets you steer the parachute for a while, which was really fun. And of course its great that he is a nice guy.

The only improvement would be (as evidenced by the Q&A on here) is how to get in touch with him. I literally googled his name and Parapente to find an e-mail address which I thought might be his. To help anyone on here trying to get in touch with him, his e-mail address is parapente@bariloche.com.ar. Happy Flying!!

Unforgettable experience with breathtaking views!
Feb 2015 • Couples
My girlfriend and I emailed Ernesto to make reservations a few weeks before our scheduled arrival in Bariloche in mid-February, which was helpful because it appeared that Ernesto's calendar books up quickly (at least during the busier summer months). The parapenting experience was quite amazing. Ernesto picked us up from our hotel and took us to the takeoff point and then back to our hotel afterwards. Expect sensational views of the landscape and jealous tourists who will watch you take off from the top of Cerro Otto (just above the takeoff point). My girlfriend and I were admittedly a bit nervous beforehand, but the nerves dissipate immediately after takeoff. Ernesto also provides great HD photos and video of the experience for a nominal charge (which I would strongly encourage). But you should also bring your own camera or smartphone for picture taking before, during and after the parapenting.

One thing worth noting is that Ernesto will only fly if the wind conditions are safe. It is my understanding that the wind is almost always light in Bariloche (and conditions are safe) in the morning and then the winds picks up during the afternoon and evening. As a result, Ernesto had to cancel his third tandem flight of the day which was scheduled for mid-afternoon (after my girlfriend and I finished our flights) because the winds were too strong and no longer safe for flight. Therefore, try to schedule a morning flight time with Ernesto if possible.

Great parapenting, but not an overall great experience
Nov 2014 • Couples
Admittedly in early November the weather is going to determine how good this is, or even if it's possible. The actual parapenting was fantastic, with great views. The feeling of catching a thermal for the first time and watching the ground recede as the altimeter squeaks to indicate rapid height gain is great. As per other reviews Ernesto is thorough and totally reassuring.

However the overall experience was less great. Due to the weather we picked the more distant location (El Bolsón), about two hours drive away to maximise the chances of us both flying. Although Ernesto said the weather was deteriorating it was another half hour before the driver was ready and the journey will be pretty dull if you don't speak Spanish and not understanding that the driver wanted to deliver things to a friend. In the end the two of us got very different flights as the weather did get worse. Trying to charge us the extra 150 pesos per person for a DVD of the camera footage of the flights (when we only wanted 1 DVD) left a sour note at the end of the trip.

Thank you Bruce for your opinion. Usually we fly in Cerro Otto, where the transport is quick and practical. El Bolsón is an alternative site for some of the days that the wind condition isn't good in Bariloche. Now we offer to our passengers the flight video without extra charge.

Exactly what the last guy said! This is an epic way to see Bariloche and probably the best place I could have chosen to do this. You are in very safe and capable hands with Ernesto. Thanks again!

Ernesto is awesome
Feb 2014
I have seriously no idea why this isn't the number 1 thing to do in bariloche on trip advisor. It's fab! What makes it better is how safe Ernesto makes you feel from beginning to end.

We did our first paragliding with parapente Bariloche. Ernesto was rated on trip advisor already and then when we got to Bariloche he was the talk of the parapente world. We emailed him via Facebook due a malfunction on the website. He replied quickly and we booked via our mobile phones.

We booked 4 people for all in one day. It worked perfectly and we all had a great time.

There were others launching with tourists at the same time but no offence to them I was sooo happy I was in the totally professional strictly accurate hands of Ernesto! Everything he does it methodical and precise, exactly what you want in a para glider guide/host!!!.

Don't fly wit anyone but parapente bariloche - ernesto!
