About Exploracion Brazo Tristeza
The tour begins at the port of Bahía López, 30km away from Bariloche, on Circuito Chico. We navigate the Brazo Tristeza in the southwest of Lake Nahuel Huapi for about an hour. Once we get at the end of the fjord we disembark through a floating dock and start a easy hike 1,5km in the forest to discover the magnificent Frey waterfall. Our boat Kaiken Patagonia is very confortable, 8 tables of 4 passengers each are available to enjoy the trip. On the way in we serve breakfast ( coffe, tea and home made pastry). On the way back passengers can purchase pizzas, beer, or different beverages. Schedules: 10:00 departure, 14:30 arrival.

Great trip along the lake with a small group of about 15 people to untouched Patagonian nature and amazing waterfall. Very well organized, permanent English speaking tour guide, pickup from hotel and lunch all included. The boat trip starts at Bahia Lopez near Hotel Alun Nehuen (GPS coordinates: -41.073333, -71.569333 / 41°04'24.0"S 71°34'09.6"W) an hour trip along the lake to the natural forest area (GPS: -41.148667, -71.698333 / 41°08'55.2"S 71°41'54.0"W) from there a half hour easy walk by tour guide to the beautiful waterfall, literally fresh melting snow from the mountains (GPS: -41.151833,-71.707000 / 41°09'06.6"S 71°42'25.2"W). I am posting many photos, they speak for themselves. Total tour time is about five hours. I highly recommend this tour.

We had a really relaxing trip on this boat with beautiful views along the way. The boat was comfortable, and only had a group of 13, which made for a nicer experience than on a larger boat with more passengers (I heard Puerto Blest was much bigger). Part of the trip involved a hike (easy) to a waterfall, and then about 30 minutes lounging near the falls. The day was warm so the time by the falls was nice. However, given a choice, I would have preferred exploring more of the lake on the boat. The staff on the boat were helpful, caring and provided interesting information (in English) both on the boat and during the hike. Two side notes: Finding the boat was a bit tricky as there is a dock, but no signs for the boat in the area, and the boat was not there when we first arrived. Called the travel service that made arrangements and they helped us find the location. I booked the trip using email, but didn't pay until after the trip. At that point, I learned that using a credit card would require a 10% charge. Ended up paying in cash after changing more dollars. I think you can save money by booking with a credit card in advance online.

Everything was perfect from our initial email contact with Nicholas. We had been on a boat ride the day before with a short hike- no comparison 1. Nicholas makes an effort to make each person few comfortable , remembering names and talking to all 2. Besides the pleasant atmosphere, it is clear that safety is a number one priority- including safety review on boat and taking care of everyone on the hike 3. Knowledgeable- I learned so much about the eco system, the regular forest on one side of the path and the rain forest on the other.. and much more 4. Lunch was fine- pasta Highly recommended trip

I arranged for our group of ten visiting from USA, a sailing day at Brazo Tristeza which is one of the most pristine navigable waters and forest in earth, and takes you to the least-explored, most remote area of the lake. Nicolas de la Cruz and his team made us feel special as we boarded the Kaiken Patagonia, an old wood cruiser. Seeing natural beauty like this takes your breath away, and it gets even better as you get to disembark and hike through the trees and dead clumps of bamboo growing back every 60 years. The forest walk was extraordinary arriving to the most spectacular site the Arroyo Frey waterfall. We were guided by Nicolas who shared with us all his knowledge hiking this idyllic place. We enjoyed lunch on our way back, it was a very pleasant and friendly sailing experience. I highly recommended.

We went on a day trip with Kawen Adventure travel and the excursion was called Tristeza Sound Boat trip. We explored a branch of the Nahuel Huapi Lake called Brazo Tristeza which is a deep glacial fjiord with mountains and waterfalls. The boat departs about 25 km away from Bariloche by the Llao Llao Peninsula. was a very small boat with only about 12 people. Along the way the guide provided interesting information. Since the water was shallow at the end of the peninsula you take a rowboat from the boat to the shore. At the end of the peninsula we embarked for about a one hour hike to the Arroyo Frey waterfall. I recommend good hiking shoes for this walk and to be in fairly good shape. After this we went back to the boat for a nice spinach ravioli lunch on board - it was a lovely day and we had great sunny weather!!! Since the other couple (who was celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary) on the Kawen tour was staying at LLao LLao hotel we were able to see the lobby of this famous hotel.
