Informative insights into early settlements by The Welsh in Patagonia's Chubut valley.

We three British middle aged guys were touring Patagonia for the second time since 2007. We had visited Trelew then but the museum was closed so we took the opportunity to visit now.

We arrived at 17:00 on a Saturday (19/1/19) in the late afternoon heat, after a short walk from our historic Touring Club Hotel. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist who charged us the lower rate (40 each) as two English pensioners arrived at the same time as us (we did not know whether to be flattered or annoyed). The museum was quite empty of people.

We wandered around this fascinating museum for about an hour to gain insight into the lives of the early Welsh settlers and the progress of the railways in Argentina (it seems that most museums are set in the old railway buildings). On entering there was a fascinating map of the river Chubut and the allocation of plots to the settlers, many Welsh names amongst them. The names are reflected in street names and even some businesses as the blood is passed down over the ages.

Overall this is a must see exhibition which can be combined with the MEF nearby (although totally separate economically).

Fascinating to see these Welsh artefacts here in Patagonia and to get a glimpse of the life the settlers lived. The museum is small but steeped in history as it is located in the old railway station complete with an old train outside. As we were on a visit retracing the steps of the original settlers and looking at Welsh culture here in Patagonia it was

A small collection of various antiquities ranging from railway memorabilia (and including an old locomotive outside) - the building is the former station - to farm equipment, musical instruments, pharmacist's cupboard etc. Many photos. Informative. Helpful staff. its across the road from the Regional Paleontological museum.

Located just across the street of the pathological museum, this museum is small in scale.
A couple of cheery staff who tried their best to give an overview of the 5 rooms.
They were the ones who made my day.

And where can one find a 2 peso admission museum?
