I had read before we went to Argentina that a number of Welsh people, farmers I believe, left Great Britain to make a new life on the other side of the world. This itself is fascinating and they clearly made sufficient an impact to have their journey and contribution to Argentina recognised. The monument is not gigantic but if you are taking a stroll along the promenade it is worthwhile stopping to have a look.

Walking along the Puerto Madryn promenade, you can see this monument dedicated to the first Welch people moved to Puerto Madryn. Interesting, Good to remember them. I'd suggest to have the inscriptions in English as well .

About 4k from the centre, walk along promenade to headland. Beside museum of Welsh Landings, follow path and steps dowm to shore beside a fence. There you will see remainsof caves where the Welsh settlers first lived, finding no wood or materials in the desert with which to construct homes.

I was sat in the bar opposite after arriving in town late, and noticed the Welsh flag on the monument. Next morning we had a good look and became more aware of the stories of the Welsh settlers, so the monument performed it's task. It daylight, it is quite striking and a useful landmark in the town. Worth a close look.

It is surprising to find this prominent Sesquicentenial (150 years) monument on the foreshore to early Welsh settlers who were helped with food and survival techniques by the local Theuelche Indians. Shame to see it fenced like it is, but maybe they had to protect it from whatever. The long boardwalk along nine sections of beach is good if you want to stretch your legs.Lots of bars along here too.

Monument to the strength for the Welsh woman who having survived the journey from Wales in a fairly small sailing ship to Argentina in 1865 .The monument shows a woman turning her back to the sea and towards the land where their future lay .

Of great significance, celebrating the Welsh settler women that turned their back on the sea and insisted that the menfolk stayed here and made a go of life in Patagonia. The monument itself is not especially attractive.

Worth a few moments as you walk along the front, a monument to those welsh folk that settled these parts. It really needs a few more information boards

This is a monument to the many Welsh settlers who came to Patagonia. The inscriptions are in Spanish, which unfortunately, we do not speak. Thus it was hard to know more.

This monument is dedicated to the Welsh Pioneer who first came to this area. Since the inscriptions are not in English it is pretty hard to tell much.
