Definitely worth visiting! Just plan your trip well in accordance to what you want to see. As a quick note, this is one place where you should not cut corners when it comes to expenses. Pay for a tour, since there are no other ways to get around!

I visited in early November and was blown away by the experience. If visiting in the spring, be sure to go on a trip to see the Southern Right Whales. The mothers and calves come right up to the boat and remain there for 30 minutes or more. The water is very clear and you can see the whole whale.... More

The beauty of a day trip to Peninsula Valdes is the variety of wildlife you will see. It is true you will see more penguins in Punta Tombo, but in Peninsula Valdes you can see penguins, southern right whales and elephant seals (which was for me the highlight). You do not get very close to the wildlife so binoculars or... More

The coastline of this peninsula is inhabited by elephant seals, sea lions and fur seals. From the rocks above you have a great view over the colonies of these sea mammals.

People involved with tourism were helpful and friendly. Watched whales from the semi-submersible Yellow Submarine AND from a traditional boat. Drove a large portion of the peninsula, and while roads are not paved, they were passable. It is easy to see why UNESCO would choose this area for the World Heritage designation: the marine wildlife is amazing, and the rest... More

One of our stops on our Celebrity Cruise from Santiago to Buenos Aires was Puerto Madryn where we enjoyed sea lions, exotic birds, and other animals in the Valdes Peninsula area of Patagonia. The vitsas are wonderful! Suggestion--wear warm, layered clothing with good wind breakers as the last layer.

... and I am glad it is - otherwise many others would do exactly the same ... ! There are a few spots on the Peninsula Valdés which I like most: Punta Norte ----------------- This spot - around 1 1/2 hours away from Puerto Piramídes away or around the same distance from the Faro at Punta Delgada - is one... This is a beautiful national park with a wide array of wildlife. Take your binoculars because sometimes the sea lions can be pretty far away. We saw plenty of Magellanic penguins, sea lions, a variety of birds and plenty of other local wildlife. There are limited restroom facilities. It was a fairly expensive day, but the views and wildlife that... More

The Peninsula Valdes is a 2 hour drive from Puorto Madryn...but so worth the drive. Along the drive you will see: guanacos, choiques (reas), (hairy armadillo), mara and tons of birds. We went to Punta Norte and visited a colony of Southern Sea Lions and several Southern Elephant Seals. Then we went to San Lorenzo to visit with a fantastic... More

My partner and I did a day trip to the Peninsula Valdes in mid December 2015. Here are a few of my thoughts for those considering a trip here. COST & BEST WAY TO VISIT (CAR VS TOUR?) Using Puerto Madryn as a base the Peninsula is around a 400km return trip featuring multiple small stops on the way. It... More
