We went to Gaiman by taxi from our cruise ship. After reading reviews on Trip Advisor, we expected a town with a Welsh feel to it - some buildings with Welsh character, Welsh flags and names, maybe gift shops too. But it was a total waste of a taxi fare. Our guess is that everything closed during COVID and little has re-opened. It is just a little run down town with nothing to see. We got there at 1pm and the only tea house, Ty Gwyn, didn't open till 2.30pm. There was nothing to do for 1.5 hours and not even a cafe to buy a sandwich. We were so disappointed!!
If a stop in Gaiman for welsh tea is tagged on to a tour, it would be OK. But don't bother to go there as an independent traveller.

Gaiman is a lovely small town with Welsh hertitage. I went to a tea house Ty Gwyn. They serve 6 different cakes , scons with butter, toasts with butter, sandwiches and 2 types of jam including unlimited British breakfast tea enough to avoid having dinner.

This city and the area in general was settled in the 1850s by Welsh immigrants, and while a modern small town it still has a few cold structures and cultural attraction we saw as part of a cruise ship tour. Had afternoon tea at the Welsh Tea House and had a short city tour. Of US H iui storic note, there is a hotel in the city where Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid stayed around 1908 before traveling to Boliva.

We stopped in Gaiman city as part of our deal to visit both Punta Tombo and Gaiman city, by private taxi from Trelew, we loved Punta Tombo but we were disappointed with Gaiman, the city is small quite and plain. The main attraction is to have Welsh traditional tea and cakes which is overpriced and nothing special in this action you can have tea and cakes any where in the world and will be the same, we saw the first house that was built in town, also passed by the old train station( not in use anymore), trelew has a similar station. My advise is if Gaiman is a part of your tour just do it but if you can go to Punta Tombo without Gaiman and reduce the expenses this will be a better offer.

Gaiman is the beating heart of the Welsh community in Eastern Patagonia. Spend at least a day here, talk to as many locals as possible and take in all the sights. My top list includes Siop Bara, where you can get coffee, beer and WIFI, Blasus, where you can buy a birthday cake and have a good chat, the two hotels, Plas y Coed and Ty Gwyn (both of which have excellent tea rooms and impeccable Welsh credentials), the Museum and its wizard curator, Fabio Gonzalez, the Tourist Office, with Welsh brochures, toilets and WIFI, the best bar, Mochyn Du, the best restaurant, Gwalia Lân, the two Bethel Chapels (ask in your hotel how to find someone to open them), the main square, with its Welsh Columbus monument and Alamo Sculpture, the cemetery just outside town and, especially, the School of Music, where all the choirs and other musicians rehearse.

As a Welsh speaker I was very keen to visit and managed to find Welsh speakers here, in Dolavon and Trelew, visit Ty Gwyn tea house for the best selection of cakes ever. Also visit the school which was unfortunately closed although we did manage to speak to 3 of the Welsh teachers who live nearby. Diolch yn fawr iawn am y croeso

We went there hopping to get some of the Welsh culture, however we got none.

Architecture was in no way representative, even the "First House" was rather small and less than impressive.

There are literally just a couple of restaurants where most were closed. Only the "Tea Houses" were more representative, however if you miss breakfast or evening time, you will find them closed.

So, only if you are passing by, at breakfast or Tea time, you might enjoy, otherwise do not even bother.

There was not much to do in Gaiman. What was even more unfortunate was we went on a Sunday and almost everything is closed on that day. Compared to the other things you can do around the area, this is a definite pass unless you must drink Welsh tea in Argentina. The tour we were part of only had an hour stop, which is too short for high tea and way too long in a town that had nothing open. We struggled to find food options and had ice cream instead, which were good.

We travelled specifically to Gaiman because we had lived in Wales for 4 years back in the 1970s. The village of Gaiman resembles little of what we remember of Wales. Gaiman has many overly-priced (ARG 120-150 pesos per person) tea houses. However, the tea houses were more English than Welsh and 120 pesos was very very expensive for a pot of tea and a few pieces of bread and pastries.

Gaiman is normally used as a time-filler for many of the tours that go to Punta Tombo. Not only are most shops closed in the day, the town itself is quite nondescript and sounds more investing in the guidebook than it does in real life. A main draw of the town is the collection of Welsh tea houses but even that fails to inspire. Tea cakes were dry and either overly sweet or bland. Tea sets are also rather pricey for its quality.
