Ridiculous hours
Jan 2020
This museum has ridiculous hours when it is open and it is closed when it says it is going to be opened. It's a five kilometer walk from the center of town and to find it closed is really annoying.

A great introduction to wildlife on the Valdes peninsula
Oct 2019
This museum of sorts showcases the whales and other marine life found in the Valdes peninsula and further south in Antarctic waters. There's a great view of the bay to be had if you climb up to the 2nd floor. Also interesting is the small open tank with anemones, fish and other marine life. The gift shop has some unique local items at great prices.

Staff was very knowledgeable and answered many questions. Beautiful location. Gorgeous viewing tower. My kids loved the tidal pool display with live crabs, urchins, sea stars, mussels, etc.

Interesting Concept

Located on a cliff overlooking the Patagonian Sea, this small museum offers a different approach to understanding the Valdes Peninsula and Patagonia. It combines art and science in many educational ways with emphasis on the understanding and appreciation of the area. Marine life, geography, ecosystems, ocean currents, evolution and more are woven into various presentations.

There is much to be learned about the Southern Right Whale even to experiencing their underwater sounds. Interactive exhibits and children’s areas are good for the kids. Be sure to go up in the lighthouse tower for some good views and possible sightings of whales. The little artificial tidal pool houses a variety of invertebrates. Staff is fluent in English, and signs are also in English which is very helpful.

Check on the times the museum is open because they seem to vary. There is both shuttle and bus service from town, but again, check on the times. Admission is somewhere between $6-8 US and the museum is non-profit. Nice little library, cafe and gift shop too.

Good but overpriced
Nov 2018 • Family
It is a very nice centre with some interesting information but it is not very big and a bit pricey for a 45 minute look around.

This is an interesting and well-meaning exhibition, great for learning the basics of the area before one sets out to see whales, seals, penguins, etc. Showing its age a bit.

Reasons why I love this place:
1. Location - near Hotel Territorio, perched on a bluff overlooking the gulf and Peninsula Valdez.
2. Excellent staff members who spoke good English and helpful to educate visitors.
3. All the exhibits have English translation.
4. Beautiful photos.
5. I learned so much about Southern Right Whales-there are amazing close-up photos of the crustaceans colonizing the calluses of the whales.
6. Comprehensive information about the geography and biodiversity of Southern Atlantic.
7. Nice views at the top of the lighthouse and the wooden platform.
8. When we were at the platform, we were so fortunate to see a flock of pink flamingoes flying in formation across the shoreline in front of the Ecocentro.
Congratulations to the staff of Ecocentro!

Great views and info
Jan 2018 • Family
This place is in a great spot with an old lighthouse lookout. Provided great info on Southern Right Whales, and had some English translations which were good.
Some short videos and quite interesting for kids with interactive things.

Wow, beautiful place! I loved it. So peaceful after you see everything to enjoy a cup of hot tea checking out to gulf! Very informative and exceptional design. Don’t forget to hang out upstairs beyond the library.
