Puerto Madryn is one of the few places in the world where it is possible to swim in an area known for its wild sea lions. Admire the rugged Patagonian coastline as you cruise out to the Punta Loma Protected Natural Area, look out for seabirds and other marine life along the way, then enjoy up to 50 minutes to swim and snorkel with great views of the sea lions.

I was with a friend in holidays in Puerto Madryn and we discovered sea lions first at the reserva naturaleza Punta Loma. We really enjoyed this visit, mainly the fact seeing them in their natural environment without annoying them. After we discovered it was possible to go snorkel with them with Abramar. It was an amazing experience with their team! People of Abramar were very professional, welcoming and very respectful with sea lions and the sea that is the most important for us. We spent 45 minutes in the water with these animals, they were very curious and player with us. One of the guys of Abramar in the water with us took photos and videos of these so good moments. After that we had a snack on the boat, to warm up before returning to the beach. We did it during winter time but don't worry about that and the water's temperature; we don't feel it with the suit during the swim and once on the boat the guys warmed up us with hot water that was so nice. Thus they are used to deal with people a bit sensitive to the cold. My friend and I keep so good memories of this unforgettable adventure and we recommend everybody to take part to this with this super team.

A 20 minute boat ride brings you to Punta Tombo where you get into the water (geared with a full body wetsuit). We were lucky as we were the only 2 people on this snorkling trip and no other boats were there when we arrived around 09.00 (30mins later there were about 5 boats and 5 groups in the water). Before you go into the water you get briefed what to do and even for people who can't swim they have a safe solution (a floating device moved around the water by the guide). The sea lions played around us and even with us, an exciting experience! It's quite expensive, but the experience is worth it. We even got the pictures and videos our guide made for free on our own sd-card.

The idea of swimming with sea lions is great and I did enjoy when I did it. However, we spent most of the time waiting for them to come to us, which didn't happen because we weren't closed enough to the shore. Our guide didn't seem very engaged either, didn't try anything to grab their attention. I understand there are some limits to how close we can get, but it's quite disappointing to be there and not do anything, specially after spending so much money. The videos also display sea lions jumping on people. Nothing remotely closed to that happened in my group or the groups in the area when we were there.

Dear Javier. Thank you very much for trust us to live your experience in the water. Unfortunatly this things happens when interacting with animals in their natural habitat. For us, the most important thing is to respect the animals wishes and not invade them, therefore we always respect their space if they do not want to get closer to play or interact with us. There is a regulation to take care of the animals, that dont allow us to get so close to the coast. We regret that it was not what they expected and we hope to see you again here. Best regards

It was an amazing trip. The sites of snorkeling with sea lions and the wreck dive were really close by boat. It was sea lions' mating season(Jan.) so it's easy to watch them fighting and yelling. Also some were in the water and swam closely. The crew speak English well and enjoy sharing the knowledge. The trip was not only the snorkeling but also briefing about the animal you see on the way, like cormorant, gull and jelly fish... They even bring the warm water to warm up out feet on the way back! I will definitely come back in different season to see the whales and swim with more sea lions! The wreck dive was cool as well. The wreck was cover by anemone and mussel. There were so many cool things different from the tropical area. Strongly recommend!

In march I did 2 wreckdives. The rental equipment was very good and the staff was helpfull. I liked the boat because it's NOT a RIB. The dives to the wrecks were nice and colourfull.
