Day trip

Lovely day trip if you're visiting Bariloche. You'll pass alongside Lago Gutiérrez, Mascardi, and Guillelmo before you get to El Bolsón (a 90 min drive), then another 20 mins to the lake. Lovely mountain scenery along the way as well. Just went up today, the Autumn leaves were breathtaking.
Check out the river, Rio Azul as well.

Lago Puelo

A favorite spot in Patagonia. The lake and surrounding town is very small and quiet, however with some of its trails, it boasts some of the best views. Its very simple to get to at the end of the bus line running from San Carlos Bariloche and through El Boson. I enjoyed this place so much, I came back again 4 years later and explored some additional hikes including waterfalls and pulling fruit off the trees on the way up. Love this place.

One of the most beautiful lakes in Lake Regions, in Patagonia
May 2015 • Solo
Lago Puelo is one of the most beautiful lakes I’ve ever vistied. It is very different from other lakes, because of its turquoise colour. It is very easy to go from El Bolson, Argentina. There are several buses daily to the National Park. After paying the entrance fee, I also got a map detailed several self-guided trails. Trails are well maintained, so very easy to do, the view is stunning. The entrance ticket now is valid for 2 days, so worthwhile to pay a visit.

pretty lake, snow capped mountains near el bolson
Feb 2015 • Solo
took a public bus 45 minutes from El Bolson to Lago Puelo. Get schedule from City Tourist Office. Lovely view of snow capped mountains and pebble beaches. Can take tour boats around lake and towards view of Chile. Some people were wading even though kind of chilly. Nice to soak feet. Wear hard sole sandals since rocky. Pleasant way to spend a few hours.

Wonderfull landscape
Nov 2014 • Family
Lago Puelo is a peacefull little town in Argentinas Patagonia, next to de same named lake, sourroundet by the Andes mountains covered all jear with snow.150 km southen from Bariloche (airport)
You may have many chances to sailing, trout fishing, trecking, bikeing, camping in a beatifull landscape full of native flowers and forests.
A good tip for eating is Luz de Luna Bistro where you also can taste the Jauja eiscream, There are many good Inns, and cottages for rent, for example Los Gnomos.

Silly boatride
My girlfriend and i went on bike from el bolson to lago puelos: it was a breathtaking trip, with loads of very impressive scenery but also hard work :) the trip itself was definitely worth it, but when it came to the boat ride to the waterfall (cascada) we got vey disappointed. We payed 300pesos for both and went on an one hour boatride through the lake. The "waterfall" is nothing but a small stream of glacier water that ends at the lake. Yes, it tasted wonderfully, but when you are paying extra bucks to go to a waterfall, you expect a waterfall. The lake itself is beautiful (beware, you need proper footwear because its full of rocks if you want to dive in), and we got lucky with the weather. But we cant help but feeling a bit ripped off for the cascada boat ride.
