It is the second time that I visit Salta and the San Francisco church captures all my admiration for how beautiful its architecture is. This time we were able to learn about its history and that of the convent by taking the guided tour (the perfect guide, super friendly and friendly!) The church does not have a bell tower, but rather a campanile. If you visit you will find out why that name! Go!

The basilica is located in Caseros Street and I pass by it everyday. Although I wasn’t able to go inside, I really appreciate the exterior architecture. It also rings its bell on certain times of the day.

We spent a few beautiful days. Everything offered to stroll around the main square of Salta is super-enjoyable. All walking is relatively close: High mountain museum, the historic Cabildo, the Museum of Güemes, the museum of Uriburu, the museum and Church of San Francisco. You have several excursions on the outskirts of the city: Cafayate, Cachi, etc..

I have always been fascinated by the coulours of this building. I saw it when I was a child and returned recently after about 40 years. The interiors are dark and humble, which sounds OK for a Franciscan church. There is an interesting image of Jesus with a printed sign that refers to its history. It is a great building for pictures at any time of the day.

The visit worth every penny… The tour, the explanations, the passion explaining every single detail and the empathy, the smile… Jazmín was the best guide!!! You will explore the whole Basilica, from the architecture, their story; to the Franciscan order and their influence, work and help with the aborigines. You will learn about architecture, history, Franciscan philosophy, aborigines, and more. And also you can buy gifts made from the order.

I had a wonderful private tour just today with a guide who spoke English. The tour behind the scenes is fascinating, so much history here. Do climb to the top of the bell tower for wonderful views of the city. It is said to be the tallest tower in all of South America! Many thanks to my lovely guide for taking just me.

It's absolutely amazing building, the bell tower is the tallest in Argentina. If you come in the evening you can see it illuminated which is great site. And you can also attend evening service which is more like a show as the music is not exactly religious. We really enjoyed visiting it.

Great place to visit, the side museum was closed when we were there, but the Basilica was quite a sight to see. Love the colors and the grand interior of it.

Very well maintained basilica with an oustanding 2 hours guided tour by Florentina, who takes you up to the bells and has interesting stories on the Franciskan monks. 100% recommended!
