This is a wonderful thing to do when in tilcara. We chose to take a taxi up and it cost 200pesos then we did the walk through Devil's Throat and to the waterfall for which you need to pay 15pesos per person. Afterwards we did the 4km walk back to town which is stunningly beautiful and not hard at all.... More

Straightforward path with a height gain of around 1,000 feet. You have to go down to the ravine for the waterfall, after paying 15 pesos. Great views. Best to do in the morning before the wind gets up. Note we are veteran walkers.

We did this short "trek" with our 3 kids aged 5, 7 and 8. The walk offers great views, but the altitude makes it somewhat difficult for some to climb. In our case, 2 kids were running around while one was suffering short breath and fatigue. But we made it nearly to the top... Eventually fetching a car to finish... More

When we got to the Devil's Throat, it was so wet and there was so much water vapor we could barely see the falls.... and that ticked me off... the wind today was blowing in the wrong direction for us to get a good view of the Devil's Throat... however later in the day on the walking paths we were... We saw Devils throat on our day tour from Salta. Was probably the highlight of all the rock things a nice stop on the drive. Recommend a day tour thru this area or hiring a car

We started late in the afternoon and went by car up a narrow road - about 7 km from ttown. The climb down is steep but not difficult, impressive gorge. We then walked along the river in the opposite direction to a small waterfall (cascada) where lots of young people enjoyed the sun and the water. Easy walk, and would... More

We enjoyed the walk starting from our hotel in town. We started early and did not see anyone until we came down. A dog joined greeted us where the trail leaves the road and about half way up joined for the hike to the waterfall. The hike up was as enjoyable as the falls and la garganta del diablo. The... More

The waterfall itself is nothing spectacular, so don't get too excited. The scenery en route, however, is tremendous. You'll also probably hardly see another soul when you do the walk, so it's very peaceful. This walk alone makes a visit to Tilcara worth it. Just stunning.

It's about an 1h15 to walk up along the trail (follow the arrow that says 4km), a few steep sections, but mostly a gradual climb with great views, especially on the way down. It's mostly in the shade in the morning. I spent about an hour walking up to waterfall and the narrow trails through the canyon once I got... More

Stunning land formation! Anyone in the area should stop by! It´s the perfect spot for some awesome photos, and, like in most places around there, you can buy some cool cheap souveniers made by the locals!
