Great rafting tour with Pablo
Mar 2020 • Couples
We did the rafting with Pablo - the best guide! Pablo speaks English well, he explained well and was serious with giving instructions but he was also funny and we had a great time as a group! Thanks Pablo! Indeed, we we were waiting after the rafting for a while for others to finish but we were told this before that we would have time to relax there, and we also enjoyed the time being in the sun and refreshing with drinks and food (pool was out of season unfortunately).

Un gran día!

I had a great time at Rio Aventura! The rafting was a blast! Although it looks different from rafting I’ve done in the past due to the “chocolate milk” color of the sediment filled water, it was so much fun. After that I rappelled down a rock wall and trekked to see a great view of the Andes! Our guide Jose pointed out the flora and fauna of the area and was very knowledgeable and passionate about the area. He even pointed out climbing routes since he knew I was a climber! The zip line/canopy was SOO much fun. The area is not state of the art and the pool is crummy but with great new friends I had an awesome day. Cold beer was the perfect finish too!

Bring something to kill the time waiting
Nov 2019 • Friends
Whereas we are glad we did the hike, we would not recommend doing it through this particular company.

We had booked ourselves on the hike of the Cordon del Plata, and along with the other hikers, were in a small group of 4. The hike itself is quite challenging as there is no discernible path but only takes a couple of hours and a bit (if you don’t account for breaks). This makes it actually more fun because it feels less sensitised, but do be aware if you are older or don’t have proper hiking wear.
Whereas our guide was a friendly competent chap, he did not speak English despite what the website promised. That’s not his fault, but rather the issue with the organiser who had advertised that additional information about the fauna and the area would be provided.
The guide also rushed us a bit as we only spent a few minutes at the summit before he started the descent. We would have like to stay there a little longer but due to the language barrier we originally thought he’d just picked a nice break spot for a water break.

The terrible part was the waiting. We had to wait for about 3 hours for all the other people to finish their respective activities. We were told repeatedly we would leave in the next 40 minutes, and then 10 minutes repeatedly until we actually left 3 hours later. If we had known about the wait, we would have gone on another hike or just booked a cab to go back to Mendoza so we wouldn’t waist our holiday time.

The rafting was nice and the guides were really good. The activity itself took say 3 hours in total. However, the agency (Rio Aventura - Bikini) picked me up from my hostel at 9:30am and dropped me off at 11pm!!! They refused to take me back earlier as I have to wait for everyone to finish their activities. I was told I was going to be back in my hostel at 5pm. Worst nightmare.

Bring a good book
Nov 2018 • Family
We booked to do the white water rafting and canopy which is zip lining. If we had known that we were stuck there for an entire day waiting for everybody to finish we probably would have also booked the abseiling. We were told it was 40 minutes drive but they failed to add on the hour driving around picking people up.

The rafting was fun and the guides were good. We had Nacho and he did his best to make it fun. The zip wire was lame and took about 20 mins in total but again the very nice guide did his best.

The shame was the organization. Several hours of sitting around, they had signs for a restaurant but did not offer any food, had no water and limited fizzy drinks for sale. The facilities were shabby and dirty and it did feel a little like it was an excuse for a bunch of mates to hang out.

If you go, take a book, a towel, swimwear, food, drink and a lot of patience.

Waste of time
Nov 2018 • Couples
We did the rafting and canopy tour. The guides were great but the organisation of activities was terrible.

We spent 3-4hrs sitting around doing nothing and the facilities were very dirty. They didn't offer us lunch and didn't have bottled water available to buy. The canopy tour only lasted 20min and was very tame, nothing like the other zipline activities our other friends have done.

The day was over 8hrs long and we only did activities for 1.5hrs. we were also dropped off an hour later than advertised.

Wonderful Day Out In The Mountains In Potrerillos - Rafting & Rappelling
Apr 2018 • Family
If you are in Mendoza, definitely head out to Potrerillos for the beautiful landscape. We combined it with white water rafting and rappelling, but landscape was a big star.

We really had an outstanding day out - very special.

Amazingly, it was just us (!) - we had the whole day to ourselves, with no waiting around. (The time of year I imagine). So a big thank you to the staff there, it was brilliant.

The white water rafting is about 1 hour, the level of challenge on the river depends on the time of year, it changes between category 2 and category 4.

The rappel was about 30m. We were novices with it, so that was fine for us. I'd almost have liked the opportunity to do it again, having learned on the way down the first time to do it better a second time.

Everything was very friendly.

We didn't have to wait around at all, because it was just us that day. The way it's sold through agencies might have a bearing on expectations on waiting on busy days, where the focus is on the activity alone, but I think it's the activity plus a place to hang out in the mountains which can perhaps be better explained by tour agencies. At least then people know how the day will go.

Highly recommended

The activity takes all day. Be prepared to wake up early wait to get picked on a mini bus probably delayed by the rest of the people joining your excursion.
We did rafting and stand up paddle. I had never done rafting before and apparently it was a hard river which made me feel awesome afterwards. The guides are super polite, helpful and professionals. The sight seeing couldn't possibly be better. Although the activity it self lasts an hour, getting ready and everything will last all day and you will have to return with the bus. So don't go expecting to do rafting and then just leaving. Chillax. They have a place for you to buy burgers and beer if you choose to do two activities. They are slowly but you don't need to rush either. We took our own sandwiches and bought a beer. The price were al right it wasn't expensive at all. If I do it again I would take snacks but not necessarily lunch. Most people did the canopy as second activity. You don't want that. Trust me! Stand up paddle in the lake of potrerillos was probably on of the top activities I have done travelling. My recommendation if you don't have a go pro, get a plastic waterproof sleeve for your phone to take some pictures inside de lake.
All gear was almost new.
I loved it!

Good rafting and crew, but WAY too ineffective
Feb 2017 • Couples
Booked Rio Aventura through our hostel. Pickup was going to be at 09, but we got picked up at 0930, and had to pick up more ppl on the way, didn't leave the city until 10. Arrived at 11ish and had to wait 30-40 mins to get started with rafting.

The crew and rafting was really good (don't recommend during wintertime as the water level will make it less exciting).

After a great rafting trip: More waiting. And then rappell and canopy (with long wait in between). These two activities I only recommend to ppl who haven't done it before as it is quite basic.

Otherwise, the premises are quite nice, but they should either empty their dirty pool or clean it up. AND stock up on water - they ran out early in the day.

It's a shame this company don't read all the reviews here pointing out the ineffective logistics of this place that could make it way better! If they do, this can easily be turned into a 5 star activity (if they up the ante on their rappell and canopy).

Not a great experience
Sep 2016 • Solo
I signed up for a rafting trip & a zip line experience at the hostel I booked into (Campo Base). I was collected at 9 am as I expected but it was at least 3/4 hour before we had collected the rest of the punters from around the city. Some were still in bed & there was a 'no show'. Out at the base there was a lot of time spent getting organised into our groups & getting dressed into pretty old & ordinary wet suits & life jackets etc & signing waivers etc. The safety briefings were thorough & our guides were very personable fellows full of info & pleasant chat. The river was pretty low & the trip was quite tame though extremely cold. Our guide did his best to make it exciting but the water level didn't really allow it, plus it was extremely cold. However the group enjoyed the experience & agreed we would go rafting again, albeit in a faster river. The zip line was a series of wires over the river & pretty tame. Really not worth the money or the effort. However the biggest downside to the whole day was the waiting around. With a 40 minute raft trip & 20 minutes zip line it was nearly 6pm before we got back to Mendoza. The showers were very hot & very welcome, the beer was cold but the food was pretty ordinary. To be fair the river has to be running at a category 3 to 4 or higher, (& not the 2 to 3) & the whole journey needs to be considerably longer to warrant a full day. With a better organisation we could have been back in Mendoza by around 2pm to be able to use the rest of the day instead of sitting around in a fairly ordinary restaurant/bar/common area waiting for other punters to go rappelling & zip lining etc. None of this was explained when I booked the trip.
