Visiting the lake at Potrerillos was undoubtedly one of the best days of my life.

We arrived in the bustling, beautiful town of Potrerillos after a luxurious bus journey from Mendoza. We took a stroll through the perfectly manicured lawns that border the lake and relaxed on the grass overlooking the lake.

The abundance of eateries and drinking establishments meant choosing where to have lunch was a difficult decision. We eventually decided upon a charming cafe next to the attractive main square. Its name escapes me but the incredible quality of the coffee was the best I've tasted in Argentina.

The town was full of fascinating people who were more than happy to welcome us with open arms. I'll never forget their hospitality.

Unfortunately we had to return to Mendoza the same afternoon, but we all agreed that we could have spent weeks exploring all that Potrerillos has to offer.

Our bus back was even better than the journey there. Plenty of room to spread out and relax.

You MUST visit this lake. It's an experience that will stay with you forever.

There are clean dams but this dam with plastic everywhere is not clean. Avoid as water smells rotten.

The area is beautiful and a real photo opportunity but generally lacking any infrastructure and having a lot of untapped potential. It is difficult to orient oneself here unless you know the natives. The best it is to see this area with a bus tour and enjoy its beauty in such simple way.

The views are dramatic. The lake is gorgeous but swimming is not allowed. There were few boats but not to tour the lake...no food or restrooms nearby so its not a destination by a stop by only.

Based on Instagram beautiful shots we visited the Dam. It's pretty but super windy and nothing much to do. It's simply a photo op and back in the car. Don't go there as a destination.

I stopped by here with my wife on a day off from work. This place has some really stunningly beautiful water. You can tell it must have come from the mountains, because it's quite clear and blue. It's very picturesque with the mountains all around it. If you want to see one of the most beautiful places around Mendoza, I would highly recommend stopping by here, particularly if you are driving up into the Andes to go to Chile. Definitely worth the visit.

This is a special area in out side Mendoza, one hour left- The Dam and the water color is amazing. They dont let any motor transport in the Dam, so it is very quiet and paceful and also so sustentable. You can take beatiful pictures from all the Monutain Range in some picks with snow...

This is a popular place for locals, but if you go there on a week day, you get the whole lake to yourself. The perfect escape from the heat of Mendoza city, it is easily accessible by bus from the bus terminal. Pack a small bag with water, sunscreen, snacks, bathing suite, a book, towel and you are all set. Be ready to walk quite a bit to get to the best swimming spots as there are only easily reachable by car.
