I CANNOT recommend this enough. I did this as a bucket list birthday experience. When the flight was done, I had an overwhelming sense of joy, fearlessness and courage that came over me. I was so giddy like a child and so proud of myself! The pilot, LJ, was funny and knowledgeable. The conversations we had about the scenery around us along with some fun facts about the "how" behind hang gliding added to the experience as well. The staff members, including Karen who I communicated with to make the arrangements, are all sweet and friendly too. ***For those who may be scared, believe me when I say this: It is not scary!!!*** Mind you, this is coming from someone who is terrified of heights and who spent at least a week mentally preparing myself to do it. Please, please, please don't talk yourself out of it or think you can't do it! You can!! I never felt unsafe during the trip or scared. It truly is a breath taking experience. I was so mesmerized by the views and the relaxing feeling of the air on my face that I forgot I was flying through the air at 3,000 feet high. lol. I HIGHLY recommend getting the media package so that you can have photo and video memories of the experience. Plus it was great to share photos with family and friends (who were all so proud of me for being "brave".) My only regret is not going with the mile high level so that I could get even more amazing views and be in the air longer. I 1,000% recommend this experience and absolutely would do it again. Thank you to the team at Sonora Wings for giving me a lifelong memory and for the feeling of fearlessness I now have!

I originally did not want to go hang gliding, but my friends talked me into it. The trainer was great and the environment was even better. They made me feel confident before taking off (it helps to watch a couple people go before you)!

My daughter and I did the mile-high flight (separate flights). They used a specially designed ultralight to pull us into the air off a dirt runway. After reaching altitude the hang glider pilot released the towing cord, the glider made a sudden downward adjustment, and then we were free to glide down. The pilot stayed really close to the airport to make sure there would be no issues reaching the runway, and he let us steer the glider for much of the ride down. We practiced left and right turns, gradual nose-down dives, and best of all we got to stall the glider (lifting the nose up until there is not enough airspeed over the wings to fly, causing it to drop straight down). The glider design is inherently stable, so any time you turn or stall or dive it wants to return to a neutral position on its own. We went in January, and I only had a base layer plus 5.11 pants and a sweater. It was frigid at first but then I got accustomed to the cold. I used loaner gloves from the company, and they offered me a loaner jacket, but I declined. The helmet had a nice, insulated liner with ear muffs, so that was a huge help! I would definitely do ti again.
