The colon theater is worth stopping into just to look at, even if you dont go to a concert. They simpky dont make them like this anymore. As a jazz musician who plays in theatres around the world, this one is high on my list of favorites.

If you can't get tickets for a performance take a your. Great value. English speaking guide. Fabulous architecture. So much gold leaf!

Did an impromptu guided tour with my girlfriend on a rainy day in April. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and taught us a great deal about the history of Teatro Colon as well as the history of theatre in Buenos Aires. The tour provided some interesting insights and highlighted aspects of the theatre that would otherwise have gone unnoticed. Didn't last very long so it can be done in a short amount of time. Bring a camera but also put it away to just enjoy being there and listening to the guide.

This building is as elegant as any of the palaces of Europe. I would love to have seen a musical performance during our visit, but unfortunately nothing was scheduled. A formal tour (50 minutes) is a must. We were lucky to have had a wonderful guide who entertained us with the history and gossip about the theater for more than a hour. Definitely a highlight of our Argentine trip.

The day my friend and I went to the Teatro we were in a hectic line for your tickets that were rapidly selling out. When we got to the ticket counter a woman thrashed is through the process and when we later looked at the tickets it turned off it was a Spanish language only tour. None of us speak Spanish and it was quite obvious if you ask me. Whatever, we really just wanted to see this supposedly amazing theatre. After 3/4 of a tour we couldn't understand (and we told the your guide at one point, who was bilingual and could've given is the Cliff's notes version of what he was saying on the side) we go into the darkened auditorium, the highlight of the your, to sit in darkness because there were lighting exercises going on for an upcoming performance. So. We got to see nothing of interest and felt a bit swindled. So check your tickets and ask if the auditorium will be visible/accessible; otherwise it's just not worth it.

I visited and took a tour. To their credit, they were VERY open about the fact that lighting tests for an upcoming performance meant I wouldn't see the theater itself. I had no choice given the dates of my trip. It was still worth taking the tour, but I wish they had given a concession with the price. Seeing Teatro Colon having the theater itself pitch black is a bit like going to Niagra (or Igauzu) and skipping the Falls.

Every day another presentation, it could be music, dance, theater, opera, always entertaining and good quality. Even if you do not like the acts, visit anyway the place because it is nicely decorated with Spanish tiles, is like a little treasure!
