The area
Neighborhood: Recoleta
Characterized by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighborhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centered on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.

This is a nice wide street. I walked about a two kilometre stretch, with stops in some of the nice parks, and a two hour stay at the National Museum of Fine Arts. There are many nice buildings and other beautiful structures facing the street.

This road runs from busy Retiro, out to the smarter parts of the city....but it's too long to walk it's length though. It is lined by a magnitude of shops and some lovely parks, but it's width is also it's downfall, as it is choked by traffic. I enjoyed my visit here though.

This avenida is impressive for its length: 25km from the Retiro area in the city center to San Fernando, a suburb of BA, crossing Recoleta, Palermo and Belgrano, some of the most beautiful barrios in BA.

" Not Trustworthy, cockaroaches
As a frequent traveler I have been in many countries. It was my first time in Argentina.
I stayed at the Libertador 774 Recoleta thinking it was going to be pleasant and comfortable. It was the opposite.
I totally believe we should get what we
are informed we will get. Specially if we are paying for it.
Instead of a cool room I got I BROKEN /Noisy air conditioner.
Instead of a refrigerator that worked I got one that DID NOT worked.
Instead of a clean room I got one with Cockaroaches.
Not to forget a half-covered bathtub spilling water every time I took a shower.
Instead of a solution, Ms.G constantly got an excuse. " I am at Uruguay" But there were no excuses to get the payment from me. Ms.G was on time that day.
I completely understand I was not a staying in a Hotel. But the status Hotel vs Apartment should not stop the host to make sure things were working before I arrived. This is called diligence.
In my opinion and in this case, is the lack of empathy from the host what made things go wrong.
It is surprising for me that in such of a luxurious location an apartment do not have enough to match the trends of the area.
I do not recommend to stay at Libertador 774 Recoleta Apt 3R

This elegant and tree lined, wide BA avenue, runs through some of the city's most beautiful and historic barrios; from Nunez and beyond, in the North, to Retiro, in el centro. At that point, the same street, changes names. To Alem. Great for walking and museum mile tours!

I really enjoyed walking around Ave Libertador in Buenos Aires; it is wide and very interesting. I was impressed by how clean it is and for it being a main road it is very picturesque and really safe.
It's a very hectic road with lots of car and lots of people walking around; a really nice way to experience the livelihood of the city.

Avenida del Libertador is one of the principal thoroughfares in Buenos Aires. Originally Avenida Viceroy Vértiz, it was was renamed Avenida del Libertador in 1950 in honor of the Liberator of Argentina, Chile and Perú, General José de San Martín, by order of President Juan Perón and to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of San Martín's death. The Avenue has many imposing buildings, gardens, parks, monuments and other attractions along the route. Lovely drive during our tour but a very busy Avenue.

Many embassies are located along the avenue. Some interesting spots include the Jardin Japones (Japanese Garden) and the Ecoparque.

A walk along the avenue will entice you to visit the parks and sculptures that line the roadway. Whilst the hop on hop off bus will reveal the sights, walking you get to experience so much more. Worth the effort.
