Neighborhood: San Nicolás
Immersed in the sound of honking horns and the footsteps of busy office workers, the Microcentro area of San Nicolás is where visitors will encounter the true hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, walking down streets lined with office buildings and banks. The financial district is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and unstoppable rhythm during office hours. After dark, the hubbub migrates to Corrientes Ave., where theater lovers might start their evening at a play and end it in one of the many traditional pizzerias nearby. During the day, Corrientes is known for its many bookshops and classic cafés, which are located just minutes away from some famous landmarks, like the Obelisco, Avenida 9 de Julio, and the Teatro Colon.

Very small theater so you get to see the performance up close. It was nice performance and we enjoyed it, but we were not wowed. It was good enough to take in the feel of tango and the ticket prices are affordable. If you are expecting more of a glitchy show, go somewhere else.

Okay, like every tourist you've already visited Calle Florida . After all, despite everything, there is always something interesting to do there - shopping at Falabella , a coffee at some Café Notable , eg, Richmond or Florida Garden. There is also good bookshops like Ateneo and Cúspide Libros , which have pleasant Cafés away from the hubbub of the street - you do not even remember that you are in Florida . And I could not fail to mention the Galerias Pacifico, with good shops and ceilings worthy of an art gallery.
What you might not know is that the top floor of the Galerias Pacifico is the Centro Cultural Borges - where you can find concerts, exhibitions, films, educational programs and workshops. This Centre is a great place to see tango shows - not tourist traps, but authentic ones. The prices are quite fair, for the Tango show "Bien de Tango" I paid $100 (aprox. US$ 25). I may say certainly off the beaten track.

So happy I stumbled on this show listing when I was researching tango shows. The other dinner/tourist shows were five to ten times more expensive and reviewers warned about taking a chance on views, mediocre meals, etc. Was able to prebook our seats online for Bien de Tango II and pay via ticketing website (plateanet.com). What a GREAT show! - tango, singing, musicians! I am actually stunned that they can pull this off for approximately $12/pp USD. Would have gone back for a second show but we were only in B.A. a few days. We saw the 8 pm show and it was over around 9:25 pm, no intermission. It is located in the business area of town and not as many taxis are cruising there at night. We prebooked a pick up so our driver was right there waiting as we exited and we enjoyed a great dinner back in our hotel area on our own. Highly, highly recommended.

Here you will find the true excitement of tango in a show that features 8 outstanding dancers, 4 talented musicians (a pianist, an accordionist, a violin, and a bass), and two singers. Having gone to a well-known touristic tango spot that required dinner a few days before, this felt like the Metropolitan Opera whereas the other felt like some bad street performers at a dingy subway station entrance. You do not have to pay for dinner. It is in an auditorium (on the edge of a shopping mall--but don't be deterred), and the dancing and music are superb. The costumes were wonderful too, and the dancers had smiles on their faces throughout (compared to the other show where it looked like they had been asked to work a second shift for no extra pay). Both men and men--especially the lead couple--were very elegant. The tango is such an exquisitely sexy, athletic, complex dance. Don't waste your money elsewhere.

This has to be the best Tango Show in Buenos Aires. It is held at the Borges Cultural Centre in the Pacifico shopping mall (but enter from Viamonte street. They do two shows - Monday and Wednesday is passion de Tango, and Friday and Saturday bien de tango. 6 amazing dancers, a singer and musicians. Simply fantastic. Authentic Tango. Not a glitzed up show. All in Spanish with a largely local audience (they know where the best is!!). Starts at 8pm for a 75 min show. 300 pesos entry, 100 pesos for a DVD (no photos allowed). Lots of places to eat nearby. Just the best. Should be ranked much higher in tripadvisor but the show gets confused with the cultural Centre it is held in. Encourage you to go and see true tango in BA. Enjoy

I heard about the Tango show at the Borges through a fellow traveler and it saved me over $100 USD! The show is great with 6 dancers, a 3 piece band and a singer. There are multiple set and outfit changes in this hour long traditional tango show. I really enjoyed it and would have been happy to pay much more than the 270 pesos they charged. I'm so glad I went here instead of the expensive dinner and show that I had planned on seeing tonight. It was hard to find at first, tip - it's located on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the Pacifico Galeria mall on Florida Ave. So worth the effort, beautiful show at a great price! Save your money for an amazing steak at Don Julios!

This is a great space and the tango show is just amazing. It's not a big place and is very reasonably priced at 750 pes pp. They have dancers, amazing musicians and a singer. It was an excellent show which we enjoyed thoroughly although the first 5 minutes or so were slow to start. Be aware it's cash only for the tickets

A Buenos Aires resident suggested the Tango Show here which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was a bit shorter than many other places (1.25 hours) and a more intimate setting, but very focused on the dancing. We went after an early dinner. There are also a variety of art pieces in the lobby so one could linger a little bit and enjoy.
Note: you must go to the center during the day to buy tickets and they accept cash only. Pricing was very reasonable.

Boa tarde! Pode comprar ingresso on line? Compra-se direto na bilheteria na hora do espetáculo? Onde posso ver a programção com as datas e horários?
Written February 12, 2020
No site do centro cultural tem a programação, mas os ingressos são vendidos apenas na bilheteria local. E até o ano passado, o pagamento era apenas em dinheiro.

Do the tickets to the tango show need to be purchased in advanced? If so, how far in advanced? How often are the shows?
Written January 9, 2020
There may be tickets available the evening of the show, but you may also purchase them up to about 8 weeks in advance. There are a few different tango shows, each once or twice per week. Tickets may be purchased at Platenet. Scroll down to Teatros and select Borges, and you should see the available shows.Good luck and enjoy!

El lugar no dispone de un espacio asignado específicamente como estacionamiento. Si vas en horarios cerca del almuerzo es muy probable que puedas encontrar un lugar y estacionar en las afuera del edificio. Pero que ello no te detenga para ir.
