The area

Neighborhood: Palermo
Best known as the largest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favorite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.

Fantastic empanada cooking class. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and explained everything in an easy to understand manner. Manuel explained about the different styles of empanadas in Argentina (based on the different regions) and told us what we would be doing and showed us how to make the fillings. We made the dough from scratch while Manuel finished up making the fillings. We then filled our dough rounds and they baked then for us. While we were waiting Veronica gave us a lot of good information about the wines and wine regions in Argentina plus we sampled a delicious white wine. The empanadas were then served with some more wine and turned out to be delicious. I hope I can do this well when I try to make them when I get home.

As flight crew I travel all over the world, taking cooking classes from various people, groups and schools. Verónica and Manuel's was absolutely one of the best. Their space was both impeccably clean and super stylish, the presentation was both easy to understand (in English) and informative with a lovely vintage map, used to highlight and illustrate the different regions of Argentina, the steps were explained and they were so patient with answering questions and repeating themselves when asked. The food we made (two different types of empanadas) and wine pairing was delicious. Above all else we were made to feel like we were very welcome! Would do again!

My daughter and I had an absolutely incredible time with Manuel and Veronica. They make you feel like family. The empanadas that we made were the best we had while in Buenos Aires. The dulce la leche was to die for. We learned about wines from different region of the country. I HIGHLY recommend this activity to anybody. It was worth it.

On our second day in Buenos Aires we took this informative, entertaining and delicious class. Not only did we have fun making empanadas, we learned a lot about the regions of Argentina, its wines and its beef. Veronica and Manuel are very personable and have set up a very comfortable and professional operation in their home. Our lunch of the empanadas we made, along with Torrontes wine, was alone worth the price of the class. This was definitely one of the best parts of our trip.

I first did a cooking class with Tierra Negra in Oct. 2014, in-person with a big group of friends on a visit to Buenos Aires. I have been raving about the empanadas since then, and so tried an online cooking class with my family today. Veronica and Manuel did a great job and their charisma translated as well onscreen as it did in person! The empanadas were delicious, although we missed the wine pairings! Highly recommend as a fun quarantine activity.

We had taken a class in Buenos Aires with Tierra Negra back in 2014. When I heard they were offering online classes I jumped on it, such a great self quarantine thing to do! We made empanadas today, a classic beef and a caprese. Very easy actually and delicious. Highly recommend. Taking a class on alfajores later this week.

Manuel and Veronica put together a fantastic hands on class. We made two types of empanadas with a wine pairing. By the end of the class I felt I could make empanadas on my own and when I returned home I did (Thanks, Manuel!). The next time I’m in Buenos Aires I will take another Tierra Negra class. I would highly recommend any class presented by Manuel and Veronica.

My husband and I booked the empanada class and enjoyed every minute of it! Veronica and Manuel were so welcoming and easy to chat with - the time flew by. The wine was superb and the food was so easy to make and delicious! We've actually made empanadas since going back home and we were amazed at how well they turned out - so thanks again guys!

My wife is a cook - a good one. I'm the cleaner because I just know her cooking is better than mine. So when she asked me to go to a closed cooking class in Buenos Aires, I was a bit reluctant and didn't think I'd enjoy myself. Wow - was I Wrong. Manuel's style of teaching is fantastic. His directions as to what to do were also accompanied with explanations of why - that I even understood. He welcomed questions at any time and engaged us in discussion to ensure we understood the responses. Before long, I was nodding my head up and down and just itching to get started. He is an engaging teaching chef. Then enter Veronica with tasty hors d'oeures and just the right wines from Argentina as we were preparing the food. They made a great team and both made us feel relaxed. They were personable and delightful. It was a very, very enjoyable time.
Now for the food. We made empanadas, dulce de leche, and flan. It was scrumptious. We asked for the "leftovers" so we could take them back to the hotel and finish the next day. I highly recommend them - as does my wife.

A group of 6 friends and I took this class on the first day of our visit to Argentina. We had a great time, and all of us have sworn that we will try making the recipes at home. We were sent back to the hotel with bags of empanadas as we were stuffed by the end of the class. The food and wine were delicious and we appreciated the explanations behind each.

Manuel and Veronica were both excellent hosts (who speak great English!), and were nice enough to escort us to a bar down the street when we expressed interest in trying some craft beers afterwards. It was great going with them as they knew everyone -- we got to feel like locals for a night!

Overall, an excellent experience.
