Just a fantastic day out. Have been staying in BA. I’m an experienced rider and booked a day trip with David. He gives very clear instructions and can book return ferry tickets for you. His instructions were very useful. Gave estimate of transit time to ferry from my flat. Met me as planned at ferry terminal in Colonia. He has a small number of horses( about 8) that he has trained for hacking purposes. Horses are used part time for rides and part time for ranching. He works with local Uruguayan ranchers who look after the horses very well. The horses were in very good condition. Clearly well fed, fit and cared for. We were a small group of 5 : mix of complete beginners and grades of experience in riding. David was our guide and spent time helping the beginners and chatting to the better riders. He had help from his gaucho to lead rein and guide the less capable riders in our group . Our 2/3 hr hack was through the most beautiful Uruguayan countryside and ended with the opportunity for a full on gallop on the beach. The riding experience was truly magical. Throughout David was chatty and pointed out landscape features whilst keeping an eye on other riders to make sure they were safe. Afterwards he took us for a quick wash then onto the restaurant in Colonia. We had a wonderful buffet meal with plenty of salads meat Dessert and wine. All was included in price if the tour. We then had an hours guided tour from a very nice local lady guide. She took us through the old town explaining the colonial history and architecture. David then accompanied us back to the ferry terminal to make sure we checked in ok. All in all a wonderful event and well worth the money. I would consider booking an overnight stay as Colonia is delightful. A lovely quiet resort but directly on the beach. There are some very quaint hotels in the middle of the old town. They looked very suitable for an overnight stop but as I didn’t do this I can’t comment about facilities etc. We used the Buscebus ferry which I understand is a bit more expensive but better than the Colonia express . Wonderful trip. Will be back to Colonia and Uruguay again !!

One of the most incredible experiences of my life! David was so helpful in arranging everything and so knowledgeable both about horses and about Colonia! For horse people, it's pretty rare to find a group tour that lets you go as fast as you want, and this one fits the bill. The horses were very well-trained, and went as fast or as slow as the rider desires. The views of both the farmland and the beach were absolutely breathtaking. Also David took the liberty of taking (free) individual in group pictures, which were an excellent token to remember the day. Certainly a must-do for anyone staying in Buenos Aires!

We had a great time with David and his team. He was full of information about Colonia and took into account that we were beginner riders. The ride gave us a first-hand view of the farms and ranches in the area as we traversed local country roads and paths. Our end point was the beach and we got to gallop there on the sand. Lovely location! Afterwards we had lunch at a local restaurant that gives you a true Uruguay dining experience. Nala, our walking our guide, provided fantastic information about the history of Colonia, including the Spanish and Portugese occupation, and how that impacted the design and architecture of the city. Loved this tour!

If you want to experience something you'll always remember and meet a person you won't soon forget, take the Horse Adventure with David. Riding horses in the surf on the beach is one of those bucket list, silver-screen, seemingly inaccessible daydreams for many people, but David makes it possible. The beach is gorgeous, secluded and to get to it, you have to ride through some truly picturesque countryside. David is a superb coach and an amazing character. He has a zeal and passion for his work that many people would strive for in their daily lives. Having been a professional trainer for champions, if you want to be challenged, he'll challenge you. If you want to just ride along, he'll encourage you. We had ridden horses about 3 times before, but there were people in our group who were first-timers. One made it to a gallop before the day was done. Either way, you'll be entranced by his infectious personality and have a fantastic time. The parrilla lunch was delicious and and the historical tour was fascinating. Did you know that the Portuguese and Spanish fought over little Colonia for 100 YEARS? Find out more on the tour. Overall, we highly recommend the Horse Adventure. If you want to have a terrific story to tell the folks back home about riding horses on the beach in Uruguay with a 6'5 South African cowboy, don't miss it. Technical Tips: 1) For those with experience, the saddle you'll use is a gaucho saddle. This was new for us as we'd only ever ridden with a western saddle, but we were glad to try something new. 2) The parrilla can accommodate vegetarians and has a BEAUTIFUL salad bar. The veggies were incredibly fresh and very welcome. 3) Helmets are available and there is a professional at the front of the group (David) and at the back of the group (Marcelo) for assistance if you're nervous. 4) Wear pants and high socks if you have them to cushion your shins
