The area

Address
Neighborhood: Palermo
Best known as the largest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favorite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.

I ended up here a few times while staying in Palermo. It was a short walk from my accommodations and offered up a lot of options. The center of Plaza Serrano held crafts and local art, surrounded by restaurants and bars across the street. I found that places off the initial ring, like a block or two away offered up a little bit better food, service, quality and pricing. Walking through the neighborhood also offers up quite a variety of street art at almost every turn. This is also where several people suggested to go for nightlife and it didn't really disappoint.

We stayed in Palermo during our four days in BA, and came to plaza Serrano on a couple of those evenings.
There are lots of bars, and a number of restaurants to choose from, whether you want a loud bar, pubs specialising in many types of beer, or just a decent wine bar.
Definitely worth coming for a night out.

This plaza is surrounded by a myriad of bars, restaurants and boutique type shops. Plenty of hype on the Saturday morning, throngs of people enjoying life, doing business or just strolling and window shopping. Our guide told us it gets even busier in the afternoons and that you can hardly move at night. An exciting plaza but not enough time on tour to really immerse onseself in the atmosphere of the area.

Not quite sure why so many locals were recommending me to this place, as there's nothing here except a small square, which was cordoned off, surrounded by restaurants and a shopping district. Safe area, but didn't appeal to me as there didn't seem to be anything of cultural or historical significance.

Visited this fun market twice in the same day and discovered that in mid afternoon the market was 3X the size of what it had been in the morning. Many artists attend this market which was a nice change from the typical jewellery, leather and dog paraphernalia. Beautiful section of town to stroll through.. By afternoon, the outdoor cafes were packed.

We've visited this area of Plaza Serrano several times during our visit in BA.
Coming in right hours of the day makes all the difference.
Middle of the week in raining day was nothing to do here.
Friday evening (after 7pm) all restaurants start opening their doors, galleries and shops are still open until 8 or 9pm. Later the area becomes full of people and fun.
In Saturday morning (after 11am) the market in Plaza Serrano opens. But better to arrive afternoon to see all the artisans there. Also the shops open their doors only after 11am. At that hours on sunny day you will surely enjoy it!

This square is very popular during the weekends. On the afternoon you can find a lot of stores of clothes, also artesanal products. An at night you can enjoy a beer and pizza with friends and listen some bands.

Can't see the attraction to this plaza and street fair, unless you don't have anywhere else to visit. The stalls are not very original, the cafes around the plaza are packed with tourists, and the area is not all that interesting to visit... Unless you live there. We had eaten on our way there and the market takes about twenty minutes to go around, if you take your time.

This is located in the fashionable area of Palermo. It's fine, and a favourite for locals, but it didn't really do it for me. There are more interesting places to see. Lots of nice looking restaurants nearby, but they are a bit expensive. Interesting boutiquey type shops nearby too.
