Cafe de Los Angelitos night
May 2021 • Friends
I didn’t realize this was a really amazing Tango spot (or I did) until I went to one that was not so good. Been to Buenos Aires twice now (love it) which is know for their Tango. This place is also a historic cafe for coffee and tea during the day, the tango show and dinner is one of the best at night! Originally called Bar Rivadavia, this café was once the haunt of poets, musicians, even criminals, which is why a police commissioner jokingly called it “los angelitos” in the early 1900s. The Tango show is Top Notch with a live orchestra, amazing costumes, and choreographed by the same people as Rojo Tango (which is #1 Tango show in Buenos Aires and $290 a person) This Tango show is $130 a person and all meal and all you can drink included in the price! I absolutely loved it and want to go back again! I do not remember what the food is in the photos so I apologize but most is a set menu with a few choices here and there. Perfect for me! Amazing experience you HAVE to participate in while in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires!

Delicious dinner and a lovely tango show
Feb 2020
This was my second time visiting Café de Los Angelitos and I enjoyed it even more. The staff was again very welcoming and accommodating and the seating comfortable. The pacing of the food and the timing of the show was excellent. For dinner, I started with a stuffed eggplant which was very tasty and cooked to perfection. For my entrée, I had pumpkin ravioli which was quite delicious—I loved the marinara sauce. My dinner concluded with a simple, but decadent chocolate mousse. After dinner, it was time for the tango show which presented a variety of vignettes including group dancing, couples and several scene and costume changes. Of course one of the highlights was a show stopping performance of “Buenos Aires” from Evita. This is a great venue for enjoying an excellent dinner and tango show when visiting Argentina’s premiere city.

Tango Extravaganza

When you arrive you are immediately fed a huge meal. I chose the steak was ok. The tango was amazing. We were very close to front which was good. The dancers all seemed to take turns being the lead couple, many costume changes, very good.

Definitely would recommend
Jan 2020
Our bed and breakfast hostess who is a lifetime local recommend this tango show. She made reservations for us. We were picked up and dropped off at the B&B so did not have to find our way there or back. The driver stopped at two other places to pick up others. We were picked up at 8:15PM. We were given the option to pay by credit card (equivalent to $110 USD per person) or $90 in USD cash. We were dropped off at our B&B at midnight after the show. We were seated at a table by ourselves. We opted for the dinner show and the food was very good. We each could select a first course, main entree, and dessert with unlimited wine. My husband prefers beer so he asked for that, which was included. I chose the beef entree and my husband chose the pork. See photos for exact menu items. The show was fabulous! Could take photos or videos during the show. Would highly recommend!

Jan 2020
In a back room the stage is lit and the dancers and singers put on a typical Tango show. Intense and wonderful. The wine and food Steak and the Malbec went perfectly. I recommend this for everyone kids and seniors.

Dinner and Tango
Mar 2020 • Family
My husband, daughter and I recently visited Cafe de Los Angelitos for the dinner and tango show. We purchased the VIP package which included a private car pick-up and return, dinner with champagne and wine, and a tango show. The theater is really beautiful and elegant. The service was friendly and quite fast. The meal selection was good, the meal itself was OK. We pre-ordered a vegan/gluten free meal which they assured me they could accommodate. When we reminded the waitress she seemed surprised. The dinner provided was basically the vegetables from the different courses, not a very good substitute.
The tango show was good, showing the evolution of tango through history. The dancers were quite good as we're the costumes.

A great show and meal
Feb 2020
We were picked up from our hotel and taken almost to the door of the venue.
We were seated for our meal and we both selected the steak as our main. The steak was just so good, it literally melted in my mouth. My wife's had mor gristle than mine but it was still ann excellent steak.
The malbec served with the meal was delicate and a joy to consume.
The service was quick and polite considering the large number of customers present in the venue.
The show itself traced the history of the perfomance of the Tango since the early days. It was interesting to see the style changes over the years. The show moved quickly and the performers were polished and all present seemed to enjoy the spectacle.
This is the only Tango show in either Argentina or Uruguay we attended - so no relative quality comparison can be made.

Poor value for money
Feb 2020
The price is $90 cash or $120 card pp, which is very high for prices in Argentina so was expecting a wonderful experience. The price includes food & drink and hotel pick-up. Their driver picked us up at 8.40pm and got us there for 9pm. So only 1 hr before the start. Due to this the meal was rushed and only had 2 drinks before the show and there was a small gap in the show where the waiter served A drink after being flagged down. No bottles of wine left on the table! I had beer which was poured as 1/2 pint. The meal was average. If you want to socialise the place is great as you can just about get a piece of paper between the tables.
The show itself was wonderful with some amazing dancers. However, as soon as it ended (and I mean as soon as) we were all ushered out to get our respective mini buses. Our miserable driver didn't wait and we had to tell him to stop as we spotted 2 people who was looking for the bus.
Did we feel like cattle...YES. Would they have been so quick to get us out if the drinks weren't included in the price??
So for a show it was suburb, As an experience it was very poor.
As taxi's are very cheap, I would suggest you make your own way there, maybe get there for 8pm.

Dinner and show
Feb 2020
I was very impressed with the show and dinner. We chose to do the VIP and was worth the money.. Picked up on time and dinner was the best comparing to downstairs food. We noticed a lot of food went back if you ate downstairs. VIP section was worth every penny spent with excellent food service. Had the best seats in the house as well. The show was very good with a live band that most shows do not have. Would recommend this VIP dinner show for sure.

very good show
Feb 2020
We had dinner and show at Cafe de los Angelitos. The show was very good and we enjoyed the tango very much. Even the dinner is kind of tourist dinner but the quality was not bad, over my expectation.
