Flux bar, Buenos Aires' only early gay bar has delicious cocktails, great music and a comfortable space to meet people and be with your friends. It is the only gay bar in Buenos Aires with a happy hour - everyday from 7 'till 10pm - with two for one drinks. We also have a range of more interesting cocktails for those who want to try something more exotic.Buenos Aires' gay scene can be tricky to navigate. In Flux you will always find someone who speaks English and they will be about to point you in the right direction regarding the other gay bars, gay clubs and gay saunas in Buenos Aires. We're just 20 metres from avenue 9 de Julio in Retiro neighbourhood.

Great cellar bar in downtown Buenos Aires. It opens every night at around 7:30 pm up till 3am. It can be quite intimate during the early hours (empty that is), so it's great to go with your date/hook up/wtvr and just cuddle on the dimly-lit sofas. It does get more crowded as the night progresses, though. The cocktail menu is... More

FLUX opens earlier than most bars, and also gets a fair amount of travelers mixed with locals. Their happy hour prices are also a lot less than other places, so it becomes a bargain also. There is also always a local artist diplaying paintings. And there is always a list of drink specials. And also empenadas are available.

If this bar explains the BA LGBTQI scene it's not terribly encouraging. The drinks during happy hour were inexpensive but I couldn't talk about atmosphere. Spotted a couple of uni students type but couldn't talk about ambience. Asked the bar tender whether there were wine or piano bars for the community particularly for the mature clientele but he said No.

My favorite bar lounge in Retiro section of Buenos Aires. Down in the basement of offices. Great drinks, friendly crowd. I have been here many times since they opened.

I arrived and ordered a drink immediately. I had ordered a orange juice and waited for my drink. I waited and waited and waited. Everyone else at the bar was getting their drinks, I hoped that the bar man would notice that I was the only person without a drink. Some patrons even had refills, I eventually told the bar... More

It's gone down hill, the owners are jaded, and at times can be snappy not the vibrant bar it was when it first opened.

Make sure you make a note of the address if you want to go here as it's hard to find just walking along. The colourful door doesn't really stand out that much. Inside you make your way down the stairs into a dimly, moodily-lid cellar bar. First impressions are everything and this place is borderline retro/needs-a-little-care-and-attention. The bar was EMPTY... More

Nice, a bit hidden place close to Av. 9 de Julio. Went there twice during recent visit in BA. Bar prices are cheap and really liked the photos on the wall. I guess the owner must have an eye for a bit of art. It gets busy after 11 pm and it is a mixed crowds. I met some nice... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
