To understand Buenos Aires, you must taste the tango! Have a complete Tango Experience by booking a private class. They can also take you to a milonga (social tango dance salon) filled with locals dancing the real tango of Buenos Aires. Ruben also does taxi dancing with 1-5 women at a time, so that they can experience and be introduced in the milongas. (No tango show style) Beginners welcome and no partner is necessary. Classes are in English and Spanish. Ruben will teach you the basic principles of the dance and the unwritten codigos of the milonga. He doesn't teach patterns or steps, but tango based on the music, embrace, connection, improvisation, sensuality, and elegance. Private lessons and group classes by request.

We had a 30 minute tango lesson upstairs in this Milonguero. The instructors were accomplished dancers, and the lesson was easily absorbed. (though the tango is certainly more complex than the simple 8 step pattern). We also watched recreational tango dancing by locals in the dance hall downstairs.

Never have two hours gone by so fast.....I am now about to take over the world as the leading tango expert, having had a brilliant lesson with Ruben who taught me and my pal Christine how to walk, twist, go backwards without treading on toes, forward without tripping him up, and sideways in the most elegant fashion which almost resembled... It makes me sad, but Cherie is no longer living in Buenos Aires. She had moved to Los Angeles to watch her grandsons grow up. She was my best friend in Buenos Aires and I will miss her so much. As so many will.

While it's true that indeed I no longer live in Buenos Aires, Ruben still teaches his amazing classes and does fantastic, professional taxi dancing in the milongas for ladies who wish to kick-start their dance experience in the tango capital of the world. I am always available via email for consultation and arranging classes/milonga accompaniment with Ruben, who can be... More

As you can see, Ruben is not in need of another rave review. And anyone who knows me is tired of my incessant, gushing narratives about tango class. But, just for the record, tango is awesome. Ruben is a born teacher (not to mention dancer). He perfectly pairs pushing you to improve and praising the progress you've made. Both hilarious... More

Our tango lessons and milonga visits with Ruben & Cherie were the best things about our visit to Buenos Aires. They are wonderful dancers and teachers and lovely people to spend time with. They made us feel comfortable and even managed to improve our tango. The time with them provided a focus to our visit which made the entire experience... More

One of the best decisions we made in planning our trip to Buenos Aries was to take Tango lessons with Ruben and Cherie! They are excellent teachers, very knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. But more than that, they were wonderful people and fun to be with. We felt as though we came as students and left as friends. We were in... More

Meeting Ruben & Cherie was one of the highlights of my visit to Buenos Aires. Having never taken dance lessons before I was hesitant at first, but Ruben and Cherie are excellent teachers. I expected us to focus on learning a few steps or perhaps a routine, but very soon we were dancing the Tango. It was so much fun!... More

One of the highlights of my trip to Buenos Aires was taking lessons and going taxi dancing with Ruben and Cherie! They are great teachers, very patient and have lots of knowledge about tango. They were very accommodating even though I contacted them without much notice. They are also some of the nicest people I have ever met. I highly... More

After much deliberation we decided not to have any lessons with Cherie and Ruben (my mum and I are not dancers!) but wanted to see an authentic milonga, so this is what we arranged with them. The milonga was packed, on a Monday night too, and had a fabulous atmosphere. Cherie and Ruben are lovely and made us feel very... More

I just came back from Buenos Aires with my best friend which is a tango dancer. She wanted to experience Argentina Tango so she booked us a private lesson to start our Tango adventure with Rueben & Cherie! Ruben & Cherie are so great teachers, first of all they are able to understand any level of tango dancer, they take... More
