Neighborhood: Palermo
Best known as the largest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favorite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.

Awesome venue. Staff are efficient at taking orders, bringing your refreshments and replenishing during the performance. Perfectly tuned team. Checks delivered and processed quickly.

Pizzas looked and smelt amazing - I had already eaten dinner. Drinks are affordable and good value.

Performance was lovely. Stage and venue absolutely amazing. Is a great find, subtle and extremely cool.

This is definitely my favorite place in Buenos Aires.
In the heart of Palermo, the bohemian neighborhood, Thelonious offers great music and a really cool environment.
I've been there 3 or 4 times, in different occasions, and each and every time I listened to some great jazz and enjoyed the cool vibe that the vintage decor sets - with a few bottles of wine!

Only one observation! They host 2 sessions per night. So I'd strongly recommend the reservation of the second show, in order to enjoy the experience with plenty of time...

We had the good fortune of going to this great jazz club and listening to a really good trompetist Juan Cruz de Urquiza and his band during our short stay in Buenos Aires. It is a world class jazz joint for jazz lovers. The atmosphere is amazing.

This place is awesome. Good music, good ambience and so on. The thing is they have this waiter (the one with glasses) that was very unprofessional and rude since the beggining of the night. He asked for tips (of at least 10%). He put his hands on the table when talking to people, to say the least. When we left a small tip (20 pesos), since we did not like the service he provided, he chased us to the door, threw the money at my friends face and screamed for us to never go back there. We called the manager and told about what had happened, since the place is really cool. He showed up and started screaming saying he felt humiliated. The night could have been perfect if it wasn't for this dude, who is clearly in the wrong job.

If you're lucky enough to spend time in Buenos Aires and you love Jazz, don't leave without visiting this place. Book in advance and arrive before 9.30 pm...early for Buenos Aires, but worth it. This is a wonderful space. A 'real' jazz club with top class musicians, a chilled atmosphere where people really do go to listen. Get a taxi there, you could easily miss it. Wonderful.

By the way....ignore ridiculous advice on some internet sights telling UK citizens to keep a low profile, etc in Argentina. Everybody we met welcomed us and were so friendly and gracious. We could learn from that.

We would never have discovered this place if it weren't for our guide "Jessie" from the Buenos Aires Cultural Concierge. Jessie did mention that the club had recently moved but the name remains the same. The club resembled a speak easy from the 1920's. It was a very casual setting with mostly a local audience. There was snack food available with drinks, beer, water, wine or soda. The band was a unique mix of six musicians, two of which were female. The performance was very professional in sight and sound. What I liked the most was the younger (hipster) age group. These young men and women carry on that good old New Orleans vibe. I would recommend bringing a video camcorder to capture the full quality of the experience. The entire venue was approx. 2 1/2 hours long. We thank Jessie for escorting and explaining the event

Sincerely,
Joe & Mona

EXcellent club at affordable price. We saw the Manuel Fraga Trio perform and it was a blast! The club is at a great location, the show was wonderful, only the drinks list wasn’t that long, but the price range for drinks was good. Go for it!

I enjoyed very much the good musician and also some very well known internationally .
There are two bad points: first the barkeeper and his staff absolutely don't care about the music, they are very loud, speaking loudly and moving plates and glasses very noisily. there was also a couple of customer who spoke together during the full time of the concert (they should have better gone in a tea-room) nobody told them anything. All the other customers were very respectful with the musicians. Great quality music and some little bits and drinks.
