About
I love both eating and cooking great food and I enjoy a lot traveling, learning new things, and meeting new people, their backgrounds and culture. I’ve decided to combine my love for teaching and cooking by making my kitchen the classroom. I invite you into my home to share a delicious and typical argentinian meal.

She is a jewel. Aside from her cooking skills she is a wealth of information. After meeting with her and making empanadas, the rest of our trip was even better because of all of the info she gave us about so many different things. All I can say is I wouldn’t go to Buenos Aires without seeing her and her wonderful empanadas, her beautiful kitchen and her amazing smile. Barbara and my grandson Ren

We had such a good time making empanadas and dulce de leche pancakes with Shirly. It is all hands on and everyone enjoyed the chopping, sautéing, rolling out dough for empanadas and flipping our pancakes! We made three types of empanadas - meat, corn and caprese. In addition to the cooking experience, she taught us about mate and the rituals around it and lots more information about eating habits and cooking in Argentina. It was an all around great day and everything was so tasty! We loved it!

My husband and I really loved this cooking class. We learnt how to make empanadas and we learnt a lot about Argentinien food and about the daily life. We would totally recommend this activity. It was in a cozy, clean flat and the food was fresh. It was a pleasent atmosphere to experience some typical food like a picada, malbec wine, empanadas, mate and dulce de lecche...

I had taken the cooking class in Buenos Aires and I wasn't sure what to expect from an online class. I'm really impressed with the setup that Shir has (it's a home kitchen studio!), the two cameras let me see very well each step of the process, and she was there to watch what I did and provided me feedback on the go. The alfajores were delicious! She also provided a video for making homemade dulce de leche which I did tasted great. We also had lovely conversation and cultural exchange, much like the face-to-face class. Thank you Shir!

We loved our day going to the traditional Market with Shirl and learning about its history first hand - fabulous fresh produce - and you get a real sense of the day-to-day lives of people in this city. The apartment for our cooking class was a short walk away from the Market, and it was spotlessly clean. Shirl's class was superbly well organised and set out. This experience has everything - mate drink, traditional biscuits, nice wine, and step-by-step instructions, complete with a beautifully well designed little cookbook with the recipes we made. Such a fun day and a great way to meet other people, too! Now we know why Shirl has only 5 Star Reviews 🤗 Don't miss this!

This class was outstanding. Shir’s background is in education and teaching, and that comes across in this class. She is a very effective and engaging teacher! Shir is also a wonderful person to meet and is very welcoming and friendly. The market visit to buy the ingredients for our meal was a great start to the day. The market we visited is for locals - our small group of four were the only tourists. It was fascinating to learn all about the market’s history and the different vendors. In addition to learning how to make empanadas, we enjoyed learning all about mata and other Argentinian customs. Shir has travelled extensively and her knowledge of food and traditions in other cultures enriches the conversation. This class is a wonderful way to spend a day in Buenos Aires! Highly recommend Shir and this class!

Shari was amazing! She clearly loves Buenos Aires, her neighborhood, and cooking. I really feel like I could make empanadas at home! We loved the market and her explanation of it’s history and customs. Really made us feel comfortable we were using all fresh ingredients. Shari was generous with her home and made us feel very welcome! I cannot recommend this class enough.

I did this on my last day in BA and I’m so happy I did!!! What a great day! Our host Shir was so accommodating when I booked late in the evening and the day before I wanted to try this experience. She was so helpful providing advice on how to get to her (loads of public transport or a taxi - very cheap). The market experience was great and we visited one of the oldest markets around BA - Shir took her time explaining things to use and giving us the local history. We then walked 5 mins to Shir’s home where we had Mate and treats ( local biscuits) then started the cooking experience. We got to do everything ourselves with great direction from Shir. In between breaks we had a cheese board and wine, enjoyed on the balcony followed by more baking then eating all the goods!!
The day was so relaxed, fun and informative. I would highly recommend anyone visiting BA to do this!! Not to be missed

I went to Shirly’s cooking experience on my last day of my 2-week Argentina trip. After eating almost one empanada a day, I felt I needed to learn the secrets of these pastry pockets before I left, and I’m so happy I signed up with Shirly. I had such a wonderful time on her cooking experience!

To start, Shirly was so so sweet, welcoming, and friendly. I felt so at home in her beautiful place which included a gorgeous little terrace where we had our traditional mate, cookies, & picada. I also got a bonus churro because the local seller came by which was so tasty too!! Additionally I learned more about the traditions and food of Argentina as well as more about Shirly and her life, interaction with food, and travels.

The experience of cooking the empanadas and pancakes was also great! It was my first time making these items and Shirly made sure I was well-informed on the techniques and procedures before starting and that I completed the process on my own so I would feel confident to repeat these recipes in the future. She also told me some tips and tricks for cooking that apply to more than just the recipes we completed!

Thanks again, Shirly, for a lovely experience! Can’t wait to make these empanadas for my friends!!
