About
* WINE BOUTIQUE & ISTRIAN SHOP * WINE CELLAR * TASTING EXPERIENCE * RESTAURANT & WINE BAR Visit us... Get to the bottom of Istrian stories! The nobility and lavishness of our wine varieties can be attributed to the heritage of a thousand-year old tradition of oenology and viticulture in Slovenian Istria, and are the product of the exquisite natural characteristics of the Istrian soil, and hard-working hands of locals. In Vinakoper, we have been producing top-quality wines with love and respect since 1947. Istria has its own charm, its atmosphere and is characterized with numerous beauties which have all been excellently captured in the harmony of colour, taste and aroma of Vinakoper wines.

I have visited Vinakoper many times in the past couple of years. It has a great location off the highway on the drive to Piran or Istria in Croatia. The people are quite nice and the prices are decent. The refosk is a nice change from a typical red wine. The proprietors always give a lot of information about each of the wines and try to match you with the ones you will enjoy most. There is also a small selection of gifts and packaged foods. I enoy buying from here since Slovenian wines are fairly unknown and they can be a good gift for friends. If you are in the area, I would stop by.

We were on a cruise excursion from Koper to Piran. On our return to Koper, we stopped by Vinakoper to sample local wines.

They have displays showing the local wine making tools and farmers.

We were offered pasta with truffles as we sampled a variety of wines that were tasty. Quite a few people on the tour purchased bottles to take back with them.

It was an interesting visit.

they have great wine, very reasonably priced and are happy to pour all kinds to taste. We stop here whenever we are in the region to stock up on their Refosko dessert wine and various reds & whites. Pick up a small bag of their salt, it's cheaper than many artisan kinds and is delicious.

By any standards this is a large winery etc and restaurant/Sales facility. If you are looking for a quaint out of the way winery this is not it. It is just off of the four lane and often you will have one or more tour buses there. that being said it is still worth the visit.the wine tour is interesting as they all are the difference is that the wines are good the tasting plentiful and the prices very inexpensive vs. nearby Italy. There is a large shop for purchase of wines and a wonderful small restaurant where you can buy a delicious fairly priced lunch. One interesting thing that you will not see in most wineries is a large room with stainless vats connected to what appears to be gasoline pumps. It is fun to watch locals come in with their large multi litre bottles and have them filled with their favorite varitale.

In Vinakoper, biggest wine producer in Koper, they can inform you about all their wines, you can participate the wine tasting and also buy it, of course. In the same building there is a new restaurant, where you can have very good fish or meat dishes.

Went there after recommendation from friend from Slovenia. Bought expensive white and red (20 USD plus) hoping for mature Slovenian wines that we have had before. Bother wines were undrinkable and they were pushing vintage wines that at this point must be said are unknown. Do not go there! Bengt Svensson

Here you can purchase some good wine; I wold explicitly mention muscato grappa and the chocolate with salt. Wine can be purchased in the bottles or in the larger plastic cans. Good Refosco; Chardonnay and Malvazija....

What an unexpected surprise. The wine was amazing. We bought 10 bottles of Istrski Rubini Cab. The wine rivals high end Cabs from Napa. This is a must for people who love great wine.

We were shown around the cellars by a lovely lady speaking perfect English. Fascinating to observe the different casks etc. and after the tour on to tasting.
she told us how t recognise a good wine and after a few glasses you feel it! Could have done with some bread or biscuits to go with it.
A very well stocked shop but impossible to buy and take on the plane. We watched the locals come in with their big cans and buy the wine as you would buy petrol.

Attend the guided wine tour before with the 7-course wine tasting. Huge barrels. Great seafood in adjacent restaurant. Perfect wines. A great mix of seaside and wines.
