Lovely park with trails. Popular on weekends with locals for picnics. We took a trail to the convent that enters via the castle battlements and gardens. A nice casual way to visit the Convent.

This park, one of many beautiful green spaces in the city of Tomar, is exquisite. You can, if you wish, walk all the way up to the Convent on various pathways. If you do go to the park, you walk beneath old and pine trees and are surrounded by terraces, flowers galore, hedges, fountains and urns. A very beautiful and peaceful spot to sit a reflect for minutes, or hours, before setting out to sightsee again. It is certainly one of the most beautiful parks we visited on our trip. There is no admission charge as it is open to the public without charge.

We checked out this park in the afternoon after hiking in Castelo de Tomar for almost 3 hours. The place was deserted. All we can see are hedges in a formal garden that stretch all the way to the back of the garden with no signs of fountains or statues to punctuate the landscape. Beyond that are more trees. We gave up.

This place was probably beautiful at some point, but unfortunately it appears to have caught boxwood blight. Most of the formal gardens are dead and unkept. It is quiet and has lots of promise if they can remove the dead plants and restore the gardens.

After all the good food in Tomar, this is a great place to walk it off, colours of the trees very pretty this time of year, and nice well signposted walks.

We came here for a walk, after lunch. We followed one of the many paths and had an extremely peaceful good walk. The views were lovely and all the perfumes in the air,the orchids ,bluebells etc were wonderful. Many appropriate stone seats to take a rest.
This GARDEN is FREE and magic. We went in the interpretation office on leaving ,gosh amazing place, and free, the ladies obviously are very passionate about their work with children, some of the exhibits were lovely.
We were amazed to hear their is only one gardener to manage the estate,
What was also lovely there was no rubbish around Tthe people of Tomar are obviously proud of this peaceful haven in their town,as i would be if i lived here Even the public toilets were available ,clean and free .
Thankyou

We are so glad we discovered this gem of a park...part botanical garden, part history walk right beside the Convent of Christ. There are several walks longer and shorter options but all very doable for most ages and fitness capabilities.
The gardens are truly beautiful, the scent of flowers apparent in the morning and evenings, you walk past historic ruins and aqueducts, caves and fountains. Plenty of shade or sun as you prefer

Lot of different colors; green, yellow, orange, brown..., very quiet place to just sit and listen the birds and observe the nature. If you like to walk, there are differents path to get to the Convent of Christ and it is really worth it the walk. The entrance is free.
