Teens love scrambling on ruined walls so they enjoyed it but it's a bit risky for a fall....
Lovely views especially in the golden hour. Near our villa. Worth it if passing by but don't make a special trip

Serene little fort in meza-meza condition on the top of mountain accessible by a harrowing narrow road that’s so bumpy, you would probably only want to come via rental car. There was an interesting German painter in the back who combined designs and figures extracted from contributed children drawings with his own creativity and colors to make exceptionally happy artwork. From here, I could see Praia da Figuera which quickly became a priority destination.

Worth the visit, but not lots to see - the views are spectacular on a clear day and it's quite photogenic. There is some parking there

Rustic Portuguese food. Great with a cold bottle of white wine! They had a Tuna steak dish with onions that I'd highly recommend!

Stopped by on our way back from the beach. Quite bad but not too long track from the main road, small car park but very few people.
A few information boards and some some ruins to explore inside with great views from on top!
Well woth a half hour stop!

Off the beaten track, quite bumpy road to get there, but well worth it. Great views of the coastline. Small plaque with some history of the fort. Signs around say no access and this makes sense as it could be dangerous, but if you are careful can walk around the fort. Great for climbing and photography. When we went no other cars there which added something.

Almádena Fort was built in 1632 during the reign of King Filipe the 3rd.

In the 19th century this fortification was already in ruins and not much of its history is known nowadays, only vestiges remain of the small chapel, the barracks and the bulwarks.

Beautiful views, hiking trails, peaceful place. You can climb on the walls.
