What a treat and the only way to view game, from a true 4x4
We got to see Fish Eagle, giraffe, eland including babies, zebra and even a dancing demo by daddy for their youngster by the resident blue crane family.
The mountain views, including...More
Just had the best morning of my South Africa trip so far; just seen giraffe, springbok, zebra, wildebeest and blue heron whilst on a horse ride just outside stellenbosch. With mountains in the distance (including table mountain) this is the most perfect taste of South...More
We visited Horse Rides at Petes on 8th November. I am a confident rider and my partner has only ridden a few times but the ride was suitable for both of us. The views are amazing and we saw a lot of animals during the...More
We had a most enjoyable ride with Deidre to celebrate our daughter's 13th birthday. Deidre was very accommodating and friendly and supplied interesting information and facts about the animals and reserve. What impressed me too was that the horses are well cared for and the...More

Thank you for your kind review - it was lovely to share our horse riding experience with you. We hope it helped make your daughter's birthday a memorable one and that the rest of her day was a special one.
We finished our African adventure in Stellenbosch and wanted to enjoy the wonderful views of the mountains and have a last look at the amazing wildlife on offer. We made a great decision to spend our day with Deidre and the horses. We enjoyed a...More
We rode for 2 hours with the guides and saw giraffes, zebra, wildebeests and numerous books and birds. The horses were remarkably well behaved (in contrast to other rides I've done) and we all enjoyed it.

Thank you for your feedback - we are glad you enjoyed your time with us and appreciated how well behaved our horses are - they really are a special herd of gentle boys!
If you fancy doing something that's different, relaxing, thoroughly enjoyable, interesting with the added bonus of seeing wildlife and having a wine tasting session at the end, then this is for you. Deirdre and our other guide were very friendly and helpful. We always try...More
Thank you Deidre! We had a wonderful morning ride with you. To be able to see zebras and giraffes on a horseback ride is a nice experience. The horses walked slowly, maybe because most of my family are unexperienced riders. I know she offers horses...More
My husband planned this for my bday as he knows that I really wanted to ride horses. I had a good time as you ride through a private game reserve and see zebras, giraffes, impalas etc. You stop and have wine tasting before ending the...More
Deirdre was very accommodating for my boyfriend and I, as we weren't expecting to be able to ride on the 24th December! Both of our guides were excellent, ensuring we both felt comfortable, and quick to point out the array of wildlife in the sanctuary....More

We ride in a 240ha wildlife sanctuary which is home to zebra, giraffe, wildebees, eland, kudu, water buck, springbok, gemsbok, bontebok and more - as such we can only walk inside the reserve. However, once we leave the... More
We ride in a 240ha wildlife sanctuary which is home to zebra, giraffe, wildebees, eland, kudu, water buck, springbok, gemsbok, bontebok and more - as such we can only walk inside the reserve. However, once we leave the reserve there is place a can canter for experienced riders. Also, on our longer wine tasting trail there is plenty space to canter once we leave the wildlife reserve.
