What a treasure we found. Small farm with a small selection of reds and Ports but every wine I tasted was absolutely amazing and wish I could have walked away with their Chalbert wine! A wine that is truly remarkable but unfortunately not affordable to me. I did buy a Port and a Merlot though. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and a very knowledgeable young gentleman explained the wines to us. Thank you we'll be back. 🤗

A tasting room the likes of which you have never seen, and a one on one guided tasting. This place will blow you away, what a fantastic setting

Marvellous place with one hell of a winemaker with such a unique approach to wine making and one of a kind philosophy!

Our party of three arrived at 4pm wanting to do a wine tasting. We were not told that only two wines were available for tasting, a Merlot and a sweet port type wine. We were charged a total of R360 for two tastings of the Merlot and one of the port type wine. What a complete rip-off and waste of money. Never again.

Amidst all the glitzy beautifully manicured estates it was a delight to visit Annandale estate where you can totally imagine farming on the Cape in the past. The historic buildings are beautiful and in their working state. Chicken and animals strutting around and a lazy stream gurglingby the side of the barn
Lots of rugby memorabilia as a Great aside for us sports lovers. Unfortunately Hempise De Toit, a legend so I understand, was not there but the girl who assisted us through our tastings was superb. She knew her wines and could also tell us about similar estates as we are red drinkers. The wines were delicious and we bought a bottle of each offered. We also fell in love with the port and trying hard to keep it until Christmas Day to open by the fire in a chilly UK. A fabulous estate to visit where total focus is on the wine. Will be back for more next year.

This is not the polished stainless steel and marble tasting centre that has become so popular.....and it is all the better for it. In a dusty old barn complete with cobwebs and loads of paraphernalia and family heirlooms, you get to try a few of the Estates big hitting reds. LONG aged in the barrel these are not for the faint hearted. great Shiraz, fantastic blend 'Cavalier' and a fantastic 'port'. Definitely worth a visit, for two reasons,,,,,the wine and the appearance of how it used to be, and mercifully still is!

Beyond the majesty and deep flavor of the red wines that we sampled, both of us enjoyed the knowledge and passion of our tasting guide. We were lucky to be the only ones when we visited, so we spent a longer amount of time and had a chance to appreciate their operations more than some of the larger, more commercialized wineries/wine estates in the area.

Stellenbosch has lots of up market wine estates and they are great to visit. However, always try and visit one of the smaller off the beaten track places too. You can find lots of these in the Robinson etc areas but Annandale was a real find in Stellenbosch. It was recommended by our guide the day before.

The farm is very historical and we were lucky to meet both the wine maker and owner, ex rugby international Hempsie Du Toit. This makes it a more interesting and different experience.

Of course it is all helped by outstanding wines, we bought the Port and the Shiraz, both of which are outstanding wines.

Put it on your list for the day.
