The view and ambiance are fabulous. Especially on a hot day. But the restaurant menu is a bit sparse in terms of choice and quantity. Overall we enjoyed it but we didn't buy any wine, it was also a bit sparse in taste. Vivino ratings are high, so I might be wrong!

Returned to Haskell for a tasting and to buy some of the favorite Haskell IV. Wife and one of my adult daughters were not interested in tasting. They walked around to enjoy the views from the back terrace where we had dined with friends 4 years ago. They were rudely chased out of the terrace with no explanation or understanding that the others in the party were at the tasting bar.

Speaking of the tasting bar, the attendant was extremely condescending with his explanations and corrections on which of the wines we 'should be tasting'.

The Aeon, Pillars, and Haskell IV were good as always but don't bother to visit the winery as it makes you question if you want to be associated with or reward such behavior.

We stopped by en route to a lunch date. On entry into the wine tasting venue come diner come verandah come bar I was disappointed to see how below average the vineyard presented itself. Cushions were untidy and shabby and generally not top drawer. We were shown to a long table and greeted by Johan who introduced himself as the wine tasting assistant with a string of other duties he is in charge of at the establishment, however, he made it quite clear he couldn't take a cold drink order because he was primarily there as the wine tasting guide and had to call another man to take an order of two cold drinks.
We all found his long and laborious talk exhausting and useless. The wines we tasted were below average. To waive the tasting fee of R40 per person you had to purchase a wine. The only wine that was better than any of the ones we tasted was R290 which we bought and one other. Between the three couples we bought six bottles. We were only given two carrier boxes as we would have had to buy another two bottles to get another box!!!!!! Absurd to say the very least! So, en route we had to fumble through our bottles and sort out what belonged to who. With one couple going box free.

Haskells, be what you are, a chilled, relaxed casual winery with no bells and whistles and very average.

What can I say - amazing staff, the best menu and food, wonderful view. Truly the making of a fairytale wedding day. The restaurant, Longtable is my favourite restaurant with exquisite cuisine to offer. Haskell / Dombeya red wines are exceptional and well worth the cost. Combine them with the wonderfully red wine infused chocolates they sell at the wine tasting venue and be prepared to be transported into culinary heaven.

Wonderful red wine enjoyed at their Longtable restaurant. This is under tall trees overlooking the vinyards. Great service allowed us to enjoy the wine & their small plates menu at a relaxed lunch.

Yesterday was cosy & rainy so we decided to visit a wine farm with a fireplace and one we've never been to. After some searching we headed off to Haskell farm - between Stellenbosch and Somerset, very close to the mountains. I am so glad we found this lovely farm & restaurant. The wine is just superb 🍷🍷. After the delicious wine tasting we needed some food and luckily the Longtable restaurant is part of the same building. So with soft rain against mountains you can almost touch, we were sipping the best Syrah while eating a heavenly 2 course meal. Can only imagine how glorious this is on a sunny day!!
A new favourite!!

……. We had bought a Hyperli Voucher for Gourmet-Food & Wine Pairing so the first thing to do was arrange an appointment to redeem it! Because they offer an email booking option we thought that we would give it a try but it proved a bit “nail-biting” as we didn’t receive a reply within the first week so we phoned a hooray someone did pick-up! So we learnt that they did have a problem of been short staffed and had just employed a new staff-member that very same day! Great! Now we had a secured reservation date! When you exit the main road and drive onto the estate which houses a few wine-farms you are already overcome with a good anxious adrenaline rush because of the sheer beautii, the picturesque scene ahead of you overlooking the vine and the amazing mountainous views! It good to know that they have a security manned gate! The parking area is big and there are some nice trees to park your car under! The first impressions are always the lasting ones, the building housing the Wine-Tasting Room & the Longtable restaurant is very impressive, the front veranda is clean with a large wooden-bench and also the nice clean restrooms are situated here! The Reception area which houses a Bar together with some tables and along the one wall is an “L-shaped settee with tables to do wine-tasting at! There is even a Stove for Cold days! The Restaurant & the Wine-tasting facility is separated the Restaurant on the left! But the Best place to be seated is right out-side on the Patio which has big trees and large umbrellas for shade where the beaut-ii of the vineyards and the beautiful mountains in the distance is breath-taking-lii awesome! No wonder they have a picnic area which can be hire for any type of group function be it a wedding, party, etc, etc at the restaurant you can even arrange to have a picnic basket prepared beforehand! The picnic season is from November to March! Our voucher was for “Gourmet Food & Wine Pairing but sad-lii we were told that this is not going to happen as they have changed it to “Cheese-boards & 1 glass of Chardonnay” so what the heck we are here so we just accepted the change and bought a Haskell 4 wines tasting for R70.00 and a Dombeya 5 wines tasting for R50.00! The cheese-boards were scrumptious-lii sufficing with 4 slices of home-made white bread, 4 slices of rye-bread, 3 kinds of cheeses, marmalade, pickled cucumber & onion, cherry tomatoes and charcuterie fresh-lii prepared and delicious! You are unable to order foods from the restaurant to enjoy on the wine-tasting side you have to move over to indulge in the niceties there! So we just did that and had the most intriguing-lii insidious desserts! 1. Chocolate & Bacon= Dark chocolate Brownie with Bourbon ice cream and Bacon crumble! 2. Beetroot Crunchie=with white chocolate ice cream and caramelized sea-salt! There can be no truer words then as one of the Menu entries recorded “Good wine with Good food in Good Company is the most civilized pleasure one can enjoy!” Absolute-lii True! Our host was kind, pleasant and very knowledgeable with all the wine product from both ranges she served to us! The wines are produced from 60% of their own grapes plus 40% of grapes from Napier in the Franschhoek area! A Magical Romantic Real-Nature surrounding venue that has to be visited to experience Pure-Awesomeness!..........PS! They even have a Wooden Play Structure for the kids and they have free WiFi!!!............

My wife and I visited Haskell to do a wine tasting, followed by lunch.
The atmosphere was cosy on a chilly Winter's day and with a nice fire going in the tasting room. A very pleasant tasting experience and we particularly enjoyed the Pillars Syrah. We felt a bit peckish during tasting and the staff were happy to oblige with a small cheese board with lovely warm bread.
We then moved over to the restaurant and enjoyed sharing a few starters rather than having mains, and the food was excellent.
Splendid snoek croquettes and highly recommended along with some other gems on the menu.
Staff were friendly and helpful, so well worth a visit.

we visited this wine estate which is in 3 weeks time due to open its restaurant having had advice from the chef from Terroir!!
The wines were very good and the lady serving them very knowledgeable a delight to spend 40 minutes with.
This is a vineyard with one of the only female wine producers in South Africa. who it was a pleasure to meet as well.
