The urban sprawl of Stellenbosch comes to an abrupt halt, in its south-western suburb of Onderpapegaai, when you enter the gates of Middelvlei. Suddenly, before you lies a beautiful vineyard-strewn amphitheatre overlooking the Bottelary Hills and the upper reaches of Devon Valley. This is the home of the Momberg family, who have been wine farmers since 1919.Join in the Boerebraai fun at Middelvlei where our resident braai expert will prepare your chops, boerewors and chicken sosaties to perfection. As if the appetising aromas of roosterkoek and braaibroodjies are not enough, Ben's homemade pâté and Ouma Annie's pumpkin fritters have placed the Middelvlei Braai in a league of its own.

The wine tasting is generous and great value for money, especially for such lovely quality wines.
The Boerebraai lunch is amazing - great portion sizes, beautifully cooked food and the braaibroodjies and pampoenkoekies are superb.
Lovely, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff too, so I can HIGHLY recommend.

A fun stop other wine flies tour. We enjoyed lunch here and several different wines with our meal. Then headed into the barn to see how the wine is made and sample some straight from a barrel. They have some animals outside which was a fun distraction.

We visited this wine farm today and had their braai for lunch. Included was snoek pâté on pot bread, lamb chop, delicious boerewors and pumpkin fritters ( the best I've ever had). The farm has resident goats, pigs, ducks, tortoises. The resident boerboel and sausage dogs are a lovely addition. R135 was a good price for a great traditional lunch

To be honest, my braai at home is tastier. The meat at Middelvlei is very low quality and not much to rave about. The idea is great but the waitress serving us needs to decide if she really wants to be there or not.

Thank You to Ben & Jeanneret for a brilliant visit to Middelvlei Wine Estate - You guys made us feel like we came home to visit family!! The Wine Tour, Tasting and Blending was an awsome experience and we will be back soon! The "Boere Braai" was absolutely great and well worth the money. Don't change anything!! You guys rock!!

We came wanting both wine tasting and something to eat. We sampled the meat and vegetarian braais- both delicious and plentiful (sweet pumpkin fritters - fantastic) - and we sampled our own choice of four of their excellent wines.

We have just come back from a days tour to the winelands - our tour included a stop at the Afrikaans Language Monument at Paarl, before heading to Franschhoek (a really quant town with lots to do and see) and then onto Stellenbosch. Had a great boerebrai at Middelvlei where we also had a tour of the winery, and some wine tasting. A great day out. Thanks to our guide Paul and Driver Vic.

Went to Middelvlei with a couple of friends for my birthday one Saturday. This was a great spot. Well done to all of you for the amazing boere braai and wine tasting combination. We will certainly be back soon. Keep up the good work.

One of my favorite places in Stellenbosch! The cottage is great, quite spacious with a huge fireplace. Rustic and exactly what you would expect of a farm cottage. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the staff are very helpful. It's my second stay here and I know I will be back. There is a great restaurant on the premises that serves lunch and their wines are good too. Definitely recommend this to anyone interested in experiencing life on a wine farm.
