About
South African roots. Worldwide acclaim. Gary and Kathy Jordan have been making world-class wines since 1993 on a farm with a history going back over 300 years. Gary's parents, Ted and Sheelagh, bought the 146-hectare Stellenbosch property in 1982, and embarked on an extensive replanting programme, specializing in classic varieties suited to the different soils and slopes. From the Jordan hillside vineyards one has spectacular panoramic views of Table Mountain, False Bay and Stellenbosch.

- MarkWashington DC, District of Columbia3 contributionsPeace at the end of a 2-week visit to South AfricaI found myself in Cape Town for an extra two days because of a cancelled flight home. A friend in Kalk Bay recommended a visit to Jordan for the food and the view. With nothing else to do, I decided to book a night at the estate. As it turned out, my stay at Jordan was the highlight of my trip to South Africa. I arrived early, at noon, before check-in, but staff had a table set for me on their patio so that I could enjoy lunch while my room was being prepared. The view from the patio was spectacular, the food and wine were great. I walked the vineyards, which had beautiful views in all directions. I had a nearly two hour personal tour of the estate and wine making operation with incredibly knowledgeable staff, during which I learned so much. If you like good food, good wine, beautiful scenery, attentive staff, and a peaceful, relaxing setting, do yourself a favor and book a room at Jordan.Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We are so pleased we could offer you peace, tranquility and an all round 5 star experience at the end of your trip to South Africa. We hope to see you back at Jordan again soon.Written November 1, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 28, 2023
- Jen28 contributionsHoneymoon tripIf you’re considering staying here, don’t hesitate and just book! Our room, although only the classic, was absolutely stunning. Beautiful finishing touches including petals on the bed for our honeymoon. We had the dinner basket which we’d recommend if their restaurant isn’t open in the evening. Breakfast out on the deck overlooking the lake was an awesome start to the day. Staff are also very attentive and knowledgeable. The360 vineyard tour is a must.Thank you for the wonderful review and for choosing Jordan as one of your honeymoon destinations. We are thrilled to hear you had a wonderful stay and that the special touches made your stay extra special. - YorkiebbCape Town Central, South Africa95 contributionsWonderful lodges!Visited Jordan for a two nights stay in their lodges. Beautifully appointed with luxurious facilities. We stayed in Lodge 9, which is furthest away from the winery up an unmade dirt track. With hindsight we should have asked for a lodge nearer as we have some mobility issues. It was only a minor inconvenience and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with attentive staff, excellent breakfasts and wine tasting. We have also made a separate review of the Jordan Restaurant which was less successful.Thank you for your review. We have made a note to ensure you are in a suite that is closer to amenities for your next visit to Jordan. It was epic. Great setting and really well run by the Head Chef. Food was outstanding and service friendly. Wine pairing (which I don’t normally do) was very good. All in all, well worth a visit! Ps - chef trained at the Fat Duck and this is better. Really.Thank you for the wonderful review. We have shared your review with the full team. - Trek353054445089 contributionsFantastic all around!!! A must visit! We stayed at Jordan during our honeymoon trip to South Africa and had such a wonderful time. The hotel accommodations are superb with amazing attention to detail - the robes and toiletries are all locally sourced and great quality and smell! The rooms are quaint and have fire places in them. We stayed in a regular room one night and got upgraded to a suite the second night, both were great but of course the suite was extra nice. The service is impeccable and Matthew was such a delight. He made sure we had the best time and helped us plan our wine tastings, recommended the best dinner of our trip at De Vlaspleis in town, and even drove us there himself at 8pm bc we couldn’t get another ride. The breakfast that is included is delicious and the setting next to the lake under the willow trees is even better. We had a wonderful tasting of their exceptional wines that was also included with our stay; but would highly recommend it as a vineyard you must visit even if you are not staying there. We were not able to dine at their famous restaurant because they are only open Thurs-Sun and we were there Tues/Wed, but they have these really fun gourmet dinner baskets that you can order a bit in advance and we ate them at our room on the beautiful patio. Very reasonable and tasty and a fun experience. They also put in a new pool recently that was lovely, although we never really had time to enjoy it unfortunately. Highly recommend this vineyard, restaurant and hotel! Top notch service and quality and you can’t beat the views!!Thank you for your wonderful review. We are so pleased you had a great visit to the estate and took advantage pf all we have on offer. The Restaurant at Jordan is now open for lunch 7 days a week and dinner Thursday - Saturday night. Although we didn’t realise that we had a certain amount of hospitality credit. This wasn’t initially mentioned on arrival. So paid for some food and wine we needn’t have paid for. Even so We enjoyed the stay ! Very peaceful.Thankyou for your review. We are so pleased to hear you had a wonderful relaxing and peaceful visit to the Estate. This was an overall pleasant experience. The road to the vineyard needs upgrading, but the views from the deck, overlooking the Stellenbosch valley and Helderberg mountains more than make up for it.Thank you for your wonderful review! - Lode N4 contributionsNice lodge in plenty of nature and not to far away from StellenboschVery nice estate close by stellenbosch (15 min by car) Good for wine tasting. The rooms are OK but not as luxurious as the claim on the website but they are very good on price quality ratio. The nature around is very good. They have a private driver to bring you to Stellenbosch in case you do not have a car and you do not trust Uber in that area. A bit expensive driver (3 x price of Uber) but at least you have a lokal guy driving you through the area.Thank you for your feedback and for highlighting the beautiful natural surroundings and convenient location near Stellenbosch. This place we just find special for many reasons. From arrival until we left the estate it was just a treat. The personnel, rooms, all in the room and views just invite one to return. The food and wines are worth a very positive mention. The estate made space available for meetings we decided to conduct at the estate. The friendly service is top class. I will be returning and will suggest that you treat yourself and possible partner with a visit there whether business or pleasure. Views are to die for. Worst experience at a wine estate restaurant. Waiter took hours to bring cold coffee and stale bread . We were not allowed to order anything else, but the table behind us could order a platter with cheeses (arrived 5 minutes after us).

I've been visiting Jordan and drinking their wines for 15+ years now, so it pains me to write this, but the treatment we received on our last visit was shockingly poor. Their advertised tasting room hours are to 4.30pm. We arrived shortly after 4 for a tasting, but there were no staff at the tasting room. After a few minutes a guy said he would fetch someone and promptly disappeared again! Eventually the tasting room host appeared at 4.18 and told it was too late as the accounting ladies were cashing up for a 4.30 finish (they were already leaving from when they arrived though). We had checked the timings before we arrived and knew we had time for a tasting (we know their wines well, it would have been quick) and a purchase. It was a really disappointing experience and not the type of service I've come to expect from Jordan. Hopefully just a blip, but there are so many other fabulous wine farms appreciative of my business that I will just support them instead.

We stayed four nights in a Superior Suite and could not recommend this accommodation more highly. Private accommodation and patio with lovely views of the vineyards beyond. Beautiful, stylish, contemporary decor and the most comfortable king size bed with luxurious Egyptian cotton linen. A fireplace with enough wood to kept us toasty as we enjoyed our complimentary bottle of Jordon Merlot, which was offered on arrival. We happened to be working during our stay. And no request was too much. An additional table and chair were placed in the suite with an extension cord for us to have more work space! (That level of attention to detail) and breakfast served in our suit to accommodate our meeting schedules. We were also given a hospitality credit that could be used against food and wine at the Cellar Door Restaurant, I assume this is because it's the Green Season. It felt extremely generous and we were spoilt. We had the pleasure of a lunch in the Jordan Restaurant, the fine dining offering, now under the management of Marthinus Ferreira. With stunning uninterrupted view of the dam and mountains beyond, it was a treat. The numerous dishes we savoured were superb and the service friendly and professional. We will certainly return to Jordan Suites, our new discovery. Special mention and thank you to Matthew, perfect customer service.

We’ve done dozens of tastings but not many better than this. Out door tasting in a beautiful setting doesn’t get any better than this. K did a great job and the wines were absolutely fabulous.

Not our first time we've been to Jordan for wine tasting, but its been a few years, so it was great to go back. We were hosted by Eloise, who did a great job of explaining the different wines. The setting is wonderful, sitting on the outside deck overlooking the small dam. The wines are still impressive! We bought a few to take home, which we will definitely be enjoying.

My husband booked a trip for our wedding anniversary. We stayed in a Deluxe suite for two nights. Everything was fine. It was clean, sleep quality good and practical. I expected a bit more opulance and luxury in the decor. Even maybe a turn down service or something special as it is very expensive per night…
We didn’t have a bath, only a shower in our ensuite bathroom whereas the cheaper suites have baths and showers.
Beware that you can hear your neighbours all the time! Whether they are on the stoep or inside their room. Our neighbours had a small child so it was worse. I wouldn’t recommend this accommodation for children.
Reception and the parking area was right next to our suite so with guests and staff it can become extra noisy. You hear voices and cars during busy times and even extremely early in the morning.
Although the accommodation was fine, it lacks personality. It feels like a room in a conference hotel in the city and not on a wine estate in the country.
The breakfasts were fine.
The wine tasting area is too small for the big groups of overseas tourists arriving in busses and taking selfies in front of the lake.
The wine tasting was done clinically and very rushed.
It feels like this wine estate lacks charm and attention to detail. This was just my experience and humble opinion and I wish I could have written about warm, inviting atmospheres and charming staff members going the extra mile….

The harvest tour was very good, we got to taste wines in various stages of fermentation and the winemaking process was explained in great detail. It was definitely worth a visit if you're interested in the process! The guides/staff were all very friendly and really took care of us. A wine tasting is included at the end of the tour. Jordan is a little off the beaten track though and it is difficult to find an Uber from the estate back to Stellenbosch even if you pre-book one. The vineyard does have a recommended driver for these occasions but I would recommend booking this in advance.

We are so pleased you enjoyed the Behind the Scenes Harvest Tour. It is one of the best times of year at the estate. The cellar is alive with activity and we are so pleased to share all we do, with visitors.
We are off the beaten track, but we do like it this way. This makes us a hidden gem. We are hoping that after a great season, Uber drivers will see the benefits of coming out to the estate for collections and increase their drivers in the area.
We look forward to seeing you back at Jordan again soon.

Special shout out to Maxine and the entire staff for explaining each course and why each wine was paired with each dish.

Our shark diving got cancelled so I called and was able to get booked in last minute for a wine tasting session although it would be best to book in advance if possible.
We opted for the reserve tasting, some fantastic wines. Our server/guide was great, really friendly and took us through the history of the vineyard and info about the different wines. The views of the lake to the mountains is amazing. We decided to get lunch afterwards and the food was amazing, again I'd suggest booking in advance but we got lucky and they were able to get us on of the tables outside, there were plenty inside but with the lovely weather and scenery you really want to sit outside.
