Relaxe in a peaceful ambience, enjoy the wine tasting which will take you on a trip discovering award winning wines. You must try the GewĂĽrztraminer! The cheese plate is a bid pricy but just drink more of their sparkling wine and you will forget that you were over charged for that. This place is also dog friendly.

Small Wine Estate with a beautiful selection of wines and nice platters to enjoy in between. The wine selection is wonderful, so deformity something for anyone to take home with.
We visited on a Tuesday afternoon and apart from one other couple we were the only guests for wine tasting. As mentioned in another review for one estate, the only thing that is a bit disappointing is the speed of the tastings themselves. You really have the feeling that everyone is in such a hurry even though not many guests are present. The explanation of wines get presented quite in a rush so you cannot really process what has been explained let alone bring it together with a quick taste. Also the glasses are poured directly which can get a bit tricky during summer time as the wine gets warm quickly. But to be fair, the service has been very friendly and flexible: e.g. all tastings included red wines but we asked for one „individual“ tasting including only whites and rose. So this was not a problem and at no extra charge (definitely a plus!).

We had a lovely wine tasting, followed by a walk around on the grounds. There are examples of the vine varieties planted to the right of the parking area, along with a vine labyrinth, with very picturesque areas. Highly recommend. Book your tasting in advance and ask for a table in full shade if it’s a hot day. You won’t regret it.

We were part of a small wine tour and Simonsig was the chosen spot for lunch. We now live outside South Africa & were proud to show our US guests, South African hospitality.
We arrived, seated quickly and then hailed over a few wait staff in the hopes of getting a menu to order lunch and a glass of their wine. After many attempts we were waited on, only to be told 1/2 of the menu selections were no longer available. We made our choices, ordered some wine. The wine arrived after 30 min, by now we had been there close to 50 min! 90 min later still no food, despite numerous requests & being told “it’s nearly ready” a number of times. Finally at the 2 hr mark, the rest of our party (who were at an inside table & were wined & dined) were ready to move onto our last vineyard & we left without having ever seen a morsel of food.

What a disappointment. We like their wines, but the way the restaurant and tasting is managed is a disaster. The whole premises seem unkept, old and dirty. They didn't even manage to clean up the tables or sweep under the tables. Service invisible, had to walk in for each order. Extremely limited choice of food - just a cheese platter or a charcutery platter, both at R175. We ordered the cheese platter and when it arrived, it turned out to be a complete joke. Simonsig deserves the medal for the most ridiculous cheese platter we've come across on any wine estate. The chef (if there's a chef) should be ashamed to send this out. And the manager should visit some other wine estates to see what a proper cheese platter should look like. When we left, again, service had disappeared so we had to walk to the counter to pay. Nobody cared about our experience or showed any interest in us at all. - What we found even more surprising as we see other places go the extra mile to survive in these difficult times without international tourists.

There are various wine tasting options. I thoroughly enjoyed the bubbly tasting of 5 MCC’s. My husband had the combo, of 2 of bubbles, white and red wines each. The outside seating area is tranquil. Friendly and attentive and knowledgeable staff.

We popped in here for wine tasting and if I'm absolutely honest, the service wasn't great. The waitress we had wasn't that interested in explaining the wines and, although we enjoyed the wines we weren't interested in purchasing any bottles to take away with us. Wouldn't go there again as there are so many beautiful wineries in the area

Wonderful wines and great tasting. Sadly the downside was that we ordered oysters which we could smell before they were served to our table. They did acknowledge their mistake after telling us they were fine but it was too late as some had been consumed. Luckily no one got sick and a complimentary bottle of Brut was given to make up for it. The wine is great here and I’m sure on a normal day the oysters are top notch.

This was one of our favourites, or was it just that it was the third vineyard that day! If you like bubbles, the the Rose pairing is a must. The red wines are of a very high quality and if red is your thing, go for the Blue Bloods. The estate was stunning, the staff wonderful and knowledgeable. Definitely one for the list.

Our wine adventure took us to Simonsig, which was an amazing experience all round.
We choose a late morning wine tasting on this wonderful estate. So much history and so many incredible wines to taste. Bianca looked after us, and educated us, every step of the way.
A definite must if you're in the area.
Thank you Simonsig and Bianca
