Wine tasting at Simonsig

Probably the most comprehensive wine tasting I've been too. Itumeleng really honed down the craft for beginners.

This last weekend I was at Simonsig for a wine tasting to celebrate a good friend's birthday. We had such an incredible time and were treated like kings and queens! Itumeleng did the wine tasting with us and he really went above and beyond to make it a special occasion! It was also the most informative tasting I've ever been... More

We came here for wine and cheese tasting after visiting a lot of other wine farms in the area. This one stands head and shoulders above the rest! You are given a large selection of red, white, sparkling and sweet wines to choose from - rather than being given a set menu. Also, the glasses actually come full rather than... More

This past Saturday I visited Simonsig for the sit-down tasting with a group of about ten, and was completely blown away by the attention to detail, professionalism and knowledge of our sommelier Itumeleng and the rest of the Simonsig staff. We arrived to a freshly-chilled bottle of the famous Kaapse Vonkel, which Itumeleng asked me to open with a sabre.... More

Saturday the 13th August was the yearly Vintage wine tasting at the Simonsig wine farm. This is one of my favourite days, that I look out for, at this iconic farm. I would like to take this time to give you the reader, an insight into what quality older wines Simonsig has to offer on your next visit. To start... More

Superb hospitality and very friendly. We turned up last week in their winter with clearly no grapes being processed but without objection they opened up the "cellar" and allowed us into the production units for a "dry" but knowledgable guided tour. The wine tasting was fabulous at £3 for 5 tasters. Lovely log fire in the tasting room if you... More

Simonsig is a beautiful wine farm with a rich history. There are even old wine making implements on display - very interesting. The tasting room is spacious and has a great fireplace. The tasting is done very professionaly and is not expensive. Great wine!!

We booked a vinyard/winecellar tour and a winetasting. Our guide showed us around enthousiasticaly and told us the story about the wines and the vinyard/family. Also the winetasting was very pleasant and we ended up buying a couple of the tasted bottles.

We spent four days in the Stellenbosch area and visited dozens of wineries and this was by far the worst. The staff was completely disinterested and would rather play with their computers than wait on their customers. This is one of those wineries were they hand you a glass and your slip of paper tell you to go find seat... More
