Nicely maintained. Museum is a short walk from the Village Museum, located in an old period building. Contains a number of areas of art but also some historical information. Worth a quick stop if you have the time to divert.

Many buildings look nice and many are old, the area stretches all over town. Pretty good sports arena, and the Konservatorium is very nice - they often have free lunch concerts there!

It is the best University I've studied at. The people there are diverse, the campus is beautiful and it is a stone's throw away from the famous Stellenbosch wineries...The only thing there that I did not like were the beggars, but they are a part of the Stellenbosch experience, especially a beggar lady named Moksie. What a hoot! Also there are many quaint restaurants and historical buildings around. Also Stellenbosch, being a university town has many pubs, bars and clubs for those who enjoy a night out on the town. Also do check out the JS Gericke Library on campus, it is a wonderful underground library...

One of the most scenic university towns in the world. Loads of national monument buildings and heritage sites. Right in the middle of the winelands and with so many good hotels and restaurants, just a perfect place to visit. The students are so lucky.

We stayed in Stellenbosch for one night and walked around the town the next day. They have many galleries and shops with beautiful things. Being on faculty of a large university I am always interested in visiting other campuses around the world. I was told that Stellenbosch University is one of the premier colleges in South Africa. We walked on campus and enjoyed seeing the classic Dutch architecture. We went to the student union building for a cup of coffee and to browse through the student store. It was a nice change of pace being around students and not the usual tourist places. If you like to see college campuses it is worth a visit.

Great town for walking around for several hours. Not necessarily for any particular site but whole experience. Campus merges directly into heart of town & is beautiful -- well laid-out, interesting architecture, nice walk ways & garden. This is a prime example of a university town that has retained its charm & ambience, like Oxfords (Ole Miss & England) without being turned into an extension of urban sprawl. Loved it. The shops in town have great quality & variety like high-end stores in cities of Europe & North America that make for good shopping if you have that inclination. Not sure about cost of living for students.

The University is part of the Stellenbosch Community. There are no university fences nor walls. The University and the community coexist in the same habitat. It endowed with eminent alumni. Student housing is very impressive with a lot of communal amenities and space to support social and academic integration.Notably the Learning and Living Communities programmes promote in a very special way the cultural integration of students. One of the highlight of Stellenbosch University is its renowned University Choir. I am told the choir has excelled at successive World Choir Games. This indeed is a feat of no mean achievement. On the whole the University presents a multicultural learning environment. I liked it!

It is worthwhile taking a turn past the university when in Stellenbosch. Old buildings are beautifully maintained. It is great to see the student energy and vibe.

Stellenbosch University is a Campus that embraces the whole Town. Truly magnificent oak trees line the streets and the architecture is is a dream for photographers. History lovers will enjoy this historic Town and its beautiful Churches. The Students own the Town and it has an amazing buzz of energy & life! Traffic can get a little hectic & parking is a problem, but you can rent a bike or walk around. Great Student Night Life & many Up-market Restaurants available for the Trendsetters! It is a Shoppers delight & offers lots of amazing little shops for local & international visitors. So many Wine Farms in the area well worth a visit. Great fun for the whole family at the Strawberry Farm, Eagle Encounters, etc. I have 2 sons presently at Stellenbosch University and could not think of a better place for them to be! We love Stellenbosch!

Offers a huge collection of artwork, artifacts and a wonderful telling of the history of Stellenbosch as well as the University, from beginning to date. Exhibiting relevant uniforms, robes etc. Friendly staff. No coffee shop, but do not worry, right next door your have some 4 choices of lovely cafees, where locals, visitors and students hang out. Absolutely worth a visit, allow 1 - 2 hours.
