The highlight of this afternoon, as you know, is the second wine tasting we will have at the Waterford Winery Summer that although it is referred to as being in Stellenbosch, is in fact A stone's throw from Franschhoek. As soon as we get to the beginning of the estate, Barbara exclaims in wonder: <> In fact Waterford Estate, located in the picturesque valley of Blaauwklippen, located as mentioned in the Stellenbosch region, refers very much to the estates wines appreciated during our stays in the Chianti and Valle d’Orcia. Surrounded by vineyards as well as olive groves, stables with cows, ducks and pigs, the Casa Wine Waterford Estate exudes Tuscan memories, with its brown, amber, ochre, and especially in its architecture with towers, patios and porches. mountains surrounding the estate (Waterf + Ord). This time we do not get caught on the back foot and, as soon as the boy we door to taste the first glass of red, we order a platter of cold cuts, cheeses and breadsticks. Bread in South Africa is a rare commodity, sometimes asking for it at dinner there were brought some heated toast and on one occasion we got some decent bread, charged us almost EUR 3. We are pleasantly impressed by the natural beauty of the winery and We start tasting eight different glasses of wine, including four whites, and devouring from hunger delicious slices of cold cuts (salami, ham) and pieces of cheese (roquefort, brie) dipped in honey and jams. Cape Riesling and Chardonnay are worth mentioning, as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc. Overall, South African wines have quietly outperformed our exam: the best reds of the whites.

We took our Belgium visitors for a wine tasting, and as usual, we had a splendid afternoon. The wines are delicious , the setting is beautiful, great platter, unfortunately I can't remember the name of the chapter that served us, but he was attentive, knowledgeable and very friendly (he lives in Gordons Bay). Never disappointed when we visit here.

We had a wonderful experience at Waterford on their Porcupine Walking Tour. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable on wine plus many aspects of South African history, politics, music and sport. The tour offered 9 tastings including their flagship (The Jem) plus a simple sandwich lunch. Walking was easy paced and covered vineyards and farmland on well defined trails.

We had seen some pictures beforehand, so we knew what to expect, but in real life it was all even more impressive. For a moment we had the misfortune that someone had very rudely parked a van just in front of the entrance, but once it was gone, we were able to treat everything in its full glory. Inside we had a tasting of six different wines. We were given plenty of time and could take it easy. At the checkout they asked for the name of our waitress and at first I didn't really get beyond the fact that it had been "that friendly waitress", but that doesn't really say much here. Because of this experience we ended up leaving with some bottles of wine, while that was not the intention beforehand. This place is more than worth it.

We popped in during our wine tasting tour, without a reservation and hoping to get some food whilst we were there. Unfortunately, they had stopped serving food when we arrived and it looked like we'd only be able to do the wine tasting. However, the lovely lady who spoke to us asked if we could give her a minute whilst she went to speak to the manager / kitchen staff. She promptly came back and said that they'd be able to prepare a small selection of meals for us, to go with our wine tasting. How amazing and how flexible of them !! We were seated in a gorgeous, airy private room were we enjoyed our wine tasting and delicious food. We were looked after by the wonderful Malaika who was friendly, professional, personable and efficient. A gem of a lady and such a great ambassador for the company. We were not rushed and throughly enjoyed our time at Waterford. Food portions were great and the food was very tasty. Prices overall were very reasonable. Absolutely I would return and would definitely recommend to others to visit. Thank you so much for hosting us. It was exceptional service. 👏🏻

We arrived la only the day after the Reservation. When we found out the mistake was a god call us. Fortunately we were attended by Shaun who solved the problem by giving us a private tour. Better impossible. Tasting a wine in the middle of the parreales while listening to the history of the place is unparalleled. 35% of the farm's energy is solar. All the mechanization of irrigated water is done by it. Wines of the best The Jem deserves your attention. It's $700, but it's worth every drop.

Super nice experience. We went there on a Sunday afternoon. We weren’t able to book online a cellar visit because it was full and so we had already a wine tasting elsewhere. Nevertheless we trued to stop by. Despite not having a reservation, nor a wine tasting they were super nice to us and had a guy from their staff to took us visit and explain the cellar. The estate is relatively new but the site is nice and cozy. Very recent like most of the places in Stellenbosch but very pleasant. Well done and thanks again.

Our visit to Waterford Estate was truly memorable. We enjoyed a beautiful wine tasting amidst the stunning surroundings, and despite our delayed arrival, everything went smoothly. The warm welcome and serene atmosphere made it an exceptional experience. We’re already looking forward to returning for lunch and spending more time on this wonderful estate. Highly recommend for a scenic and relaxing wine-tasting experience.

Our visit to the Waterford estate for a wine tasting really exceeded our expectations. Our sommelier Darien was so friendly and knowledgeable. One of our favourite wines in all of Stellenbosch was found here. The estate and scenery are breathtaking...make sure to take lots of photos!

Great experience. Damien was a thoughtful informative and considerate guide. Lovely platter. Plentiful samples of great wine. Was quite a cool day and there was no activity on the vines. We both loved the experience but maybe it would have been better to enjoy an experience at the winery
