We stopped here with our kids in mind, and the Eagle and Birds of Prey encounters and show did not disappoint. BUT the adults were delighted by the sophisticated restaurant and truly enchanting setting and picnic grounds. Very nice arts and crafts on the grounds as well.

As a belated Valentines Day gift, I decided to take my owl-obsessed girlfriend to Eagle Encounters to go and see these beautiful birds in action. We started with their interactive feeding session where different birds of display are showed off and encouraged to sit on your hand or head (yes, head). As we wondered around thinking this was the highlight... More

After a tasting of the delicious wines at Spier Winery go to the left of the winery building down the path to the Eagle Encounters display. Wander around the large enclosures and settle in for a demonstration by one of the keepers. The birds here are ones that have been injured or rescued. We had a wonderful and informative visit... We enjoyed our short visit to see the raptors and a snake or two. The range of birds is impressive and they were all quite alert. The owls which you were able to stroke were just gorgeous If you are at the Spier Hotel or making an excursion do not miss this delightful attraction

The sanctuary forms part of the Spier Wine estate. From the car park you walk left instead of right to the wine tasting and restaurant areas. There are craft markets on either side of the path but you don't get hassled and it's interesting to see how they make some of the wire framed crafts. To be honest we didn't... More

My 4 year old absolutely loved the Eagle Encounters at the Spier Estate. What a wonderful holiday activity. He was able to touch several owls and interact with some of the larger birds. A little pricey but we felt it was worth it.

Excellent diversion while visiting Spier Winery. Excellent mission - saving abused, neglected and abandoned raptors. Variety is strong. Interesting shows and demonstrations. Also miniature pigs, goats, tortoises, porcupines, etc.

This is such a great place to visit, they have interactive shows and a lot of other birds to educate and delight everyone. Because they also rescue birds and put them back into the wild whenever they can, you get a sense of the dangers they face. All the staff are incredibly passionate about what they do.
