You arrive in the lushness of tall trees and greenery. You can smell the earth. Then you pick up other delectable fragrances....CHOCOLATE! You taste it's pure form, learn about all the qualities that make chocolate from where and how...special. We had a delightful gal, who loved her job...it was evident. You see the operations of chocolate making all around you... More

If you like chocolate, this place is a must. Chocolate tasting for virtually nothing. The chocolates were absolutely wonderful. Had to buy some to take back home and still found them delicious. Sadly all gone ! Definitely worth a visit!

Downstairs chocolate tasting and comparing complexities was a great activity on a rainy day! And the chocolate is excellent!

Have been here twice and done both the single origin tasting and the selection of different flavour chocolates. Well worth the time and ridiculously inexpensive. Last time we even very kindly got a private single origin experience provided in the basement room by Melissa for my mother as we had not booked and when we arrived they were already full.... More

Definately the highlight on our Spice Route visit. My 7year old went for a tasting twice and the dark chocolates are her favorites! If you tasted bean to bar...you will not easily eat another kind of chocolate again! A must-visit!

Today I visited the DV chocolatier at Spice Route for the third time. On a previous occasion I did the single origin tasting (they were super helpful accommodating a group of 15 of us without a booking). I loved the tasting and the way they highlighted how different regions give different flavors. Today we did the chocolate and confectionary tasting... More

Seemed like the place aimed at just getting more and more people stuffed in the tasting room like sardines for money. Chocolate tastes like plastic and is horrendously overpriced costing more than Lindt chocolate at stores. It sure doesn't taste hand crafted. Part of Spice Route/ fair view tourist trap, the most overrated place in the Cape Winelands.

Thank you for posting your review. We are very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the experience. You visited during December, which is the busiest time of year. Hopefully you will be able to visit again at a quieter time. We do not like to compare ourselves to mass market brands as our focus is on small batch production.... More

What a super place this is! The most divine chocolate made with love from beans from source. This shop on the Spice Route is one of our first stops on our way to Cape Town. Our family cannot wait for their special treats. We have been visiting DV since their inception, and the experience is always great. Their chocolate tasting... More
