We arrived at the museum, which is housed in a beautiful historic building, just twenty minutes before closing time, and the staff kindly agreed not to charge us to have a quick look around. As we were tight for time, we could not visit every exhibit, but we did get to see the majority. There were well-made exhibitions about the... More

Lots and lots of small individual items to see and some of the content is pretty good, but it lacks any interaction and for kids in particular is rubbish. It is more a very good archive than a Museum. I guess for a small town museum it is OK, but don't book a full day to see it! One hour... More

A fascinating museum with some really interesting exhibits - and not just for a rainy day! Cheap as chips to visit and a good range of quality historic items - do make time to have a look. One of the better museums on offer.

Great value ticket although unfortunately we were not told about the Le Roux additional site Very comprehensive displays - absolutely fascinating historical collection and ostrich farming artefacts. Gives a detailed synopsis of the history of the area Jewish collection and synagogue on site as well Highly recommended

This very reasonably priced museum has a lot of info about the town and the history of Ostrich farming. It's a great place and the rooms are very well organised. The ticket also included the Le Roux building in the town which didn't take that long to get round. Very nice way to break up the day

A lovely place to visit and view the past Oudtshoorn.Learnt a lot about ostriches, their feathers in fashion, eggs and their deformities. Saw old shop, bank, you name it, a treasure trove of the past. Ticket includes entrance to Le Roux House just around the block, also well worth a visit.

A very good museum showing the history of this town based on the ostrich industry. Marvellous exhibits of garments trimmed with feathers. Also complete shops from the beginning of the last century, a pharmacy and a bank, and interiors of a similar period.
