The walk is beautiful. Those big, old trees are just beautiful.
Remember extra water. Very humid in the forest. Was also very wet when we walked. Our shoes a bit dirty afterwards. We didn’t pack a picnic basket, but would definitely do it next time.
After this walk we went to Jubilee Creek for another walk. Swam at the small waterfall. Very refreshing.
Yes, there is no rangers in the forest, but it is well kept.

We opted for the 9 km walk and enjoyed it thoroughly. Beautiful trees, with information boards along the way. Walkways are clear and there are lots to appreciate if you don't race along. The last 3 km along the road was not that pleasant. Would rather turn back at the stream next time to take in more of the forest. Birds very shy, saw butterflies and quite a few mushrooms. Will do it again.

Had a great walk through the forest with a family of 4. Did the 9km route and was treated to numerous sightings of Knysna Louries . The walk is easy with the odd steep spot but will within even my somewhat less than fit abilities. Luckily we had the forest virtually to ourselves, which gave us a few hours of rare solitude that one finds harder and harder to get these days.

Terrible with a capital T! If you suffer from any joint pain or do not have the stamina and balance of a mountain goat on steroids then give this place a miss. Muddy wet leaf covered paths with tree routes just to ensure a guaranteed trip/fall for 90% of the 3 km "route march". Spider webs to wrap your face in across the pathways. Should you wish to look up you have to be stationary, so whilst trudging you are focused on the ground for safety's sake. The end could not have come quick enough, I was totally knackered and never so pleased to see the words Renault Scenic, my car. If after this you are still going to attempt it take, 2 hiking sticks, knee pads, tissues for the spider webs (and tears), drink 4 cups of coffee, 4 cups of coke, and eat a bag of sugar for energy and enjoy!

Not more to add really, after the first 200 metres it becomes clear that you are not going to see anything but trees and a few birds. I can do this at home. I've got better ways of spending my holiday time.

We did the 3 Km trail with our kids today and they just loved it. For a boy aged 6 and his twin sisters aged 3, it was quite an adventure which fanned the flames of their young imaginations. There were fairies, trolls under the bridges, "rammetjies rof" and a bit of a challenging finish.

The sounds and smells of the lush forest makes for a truly unique experience and the fact that the whole trail is covered in shade guarantees a nice, cool hike.

You might want to take a bottle of water with you.

The paths can be slippery in some spots so rather wear proper shoes.

Will definitely go back for the 9 Km.

We took the 3km walk, there is a 9km walk available too. The sign indicates it will take 1.5 hours but my wife and I finished in 45 minutes. There are some parts that are rather steep and would not recommend it if you have difficulty walking. You need to pay R20 per person to enter the park, from there its about a 4km drive to the start of the walk.

This may only be worth a visit if you are South African or local!! After seeing TripAdvisor and wanting a relaxing walk in the woods we headed here for the afternoon.
On arriving and filling in the form at the entrance gate I was surprised that the charge was nearly x3 times more expensive per person than advertised on here and on their website.
This was because we were foreign visitors and not South African.
Definitely disappointed and annoyed at this. And definitely not worth paying this amount for a walk round the woodland. There are many better places to visit in the area.

First:: You need a day permit to do this walk.
You can only get this permit on the day you walk.
When we enquired about it, the previous afternoon, the lady told us to come back in the morning, they will be there from 7h30 onwards.
We arrived 8h30, and no one was there. Luckily she (me. Jantjies) arrived a few minutes afterwards.
The permit os not very expensive and very worth your while.

The walk was stunning. It is possible to take a 3 km or 9 km walk, and we finished the 3 km in about one hour 20 minutes. The forest was a bit slippery, but as long as you do not use flip flops you will be fine.

If your partner walk about 10 m away from you , you cannot see her. Luckily the paths are clearly marked and it is impossible to get lost.

All in all a very nice walk.

The short route is a nice walk that isn't to challenging. You are in the forest and you get a good feel for the place, but you don't have to be a serious hiker to handle the trail and by the time you feel like you are ready to be done you are actually pretty close to done.

Just remember to put on a liberal amount of bug repellant or you won't enjoy your experience at all.
